...in a fit of...

...well, try and guess.

(Not because they were poorly received. Most of them had red H's, three of them got the coveted E award, and a few spent a couple of years in the toplists).

By the Google definition I am an author, but no one would want to read my long-out-of-date textbooks.

This anti-troll campaign is actually effective. I might finally disappear back into my cave with my tail between my legs, and you'll miss me.
Can't a guy have a little fun these days?
Fun is fine, just don't get caught out not doing your homework ;).

I'm going to buy a fat ring like the Pope's and demand everyone kiss it... turns out I'm officially an author.
By that definition I'm an author too, but much of what I've written for pay is still classified.
A ring to kiss? Nah, I'm going to get me a big ol' belt buckle for you to kiss.

Your stories your choice. If you end up regretting it, you can always put them back up there.

You can’t post a guessing game then not be around. Although depending on where you are maybe you went to sleep.

My guess is something authoritarian rubbed you the wrong way. We’re all here partly under “it’s a deal with the devil.” I’m torn between partly understanding that nothing this size can please everyone, then partly irritated by certain inconsistencies (no, I don’t go near underage, I’ll just clarify it wasn’t that in my case.)

I Pulled my stories and left pissed off over an authoritarian forum mod (not Authors hangout, btw) back in about 2016 and came back a year or two later, so if it’s authoritarian annoyances and owner inaction for you too, I feel your frustration.)

It applies to all of us, but removing all your stories is a form of self-destruction. The stories will remain long after us; definitely the best of them. Removing them is a like removing yourself. Unless you intend to use them commercially, it makes no sense.
The internet version of cutting.

Nah. My lips are extremely sensitive. But hey, leave me your address. I'll send you a little stool, so you don't hurt your knees.

You have been active here for twenty years. 40 stories – most of them red H and still only 240 followers. Does anyone have a handkerchief? I've been getting sentimental lately.
Hey, whatever puffs your ego.

I've looked at your submissions and I can see why you're jealous.

So how long do we have to wait before you tell us? Just curious. Or maybe you are never going to tell us.

Having followers - well, we all notice the number, but it's a somewhat overrated metric. Many, if not most of them, have dozens of authors they are following, and perhaps hundreds of stories they have as favorites. (The majority seem to have no submissions of their own.) Then they rarely if ever comment, although perhaps they vote sometimes. They usually click the button and then go on to something else.

I know this is a dumb question, but I don't generally look around for things like this. How do you see how many followers someone has, other than the people on the top 250 list?

Jeez, talk about right in front of my face.
Thanks
Also right under your name on your story side control panel. Clickable, by the way, if you want to scroll through over 10k names. LOL

EDIT: Oops, the number isn't clickable. It's clicking the "following" menu in the link and going to the followers tab.
