smoking for the new year. I haven't been perfect, I've had 2 since midnight of 2003. Right now I'm crabby as hell and about to jump out of my own skin.

Do any of you have any advice for how to deal with this? I think my husband and kids are about to move out if this doesn't get better!:(

Brush your teeth when you start craving a smoke. A) it feels good and B) nobody wants a smoke right after they brush their teeth.

I can't help you with advice but I am willing to give you moral support.

Thanks, that always helps!:rose:

Zyban is really helpful with the mood swings.

It is particularly effective with women as when women quit smoking they are more likely to enter into varying degrees of depression. It isn't necessarily just "bratty crankiness."

Just do the best you can.

HUGS!

You're awesome and strong Shadwann.. when I last quit.. one of the ways I made it through the craving times is I'd strongly think about how long it'd been since I'd had one. Not dwelling on the fact that I had....but dwelling on the time.. imagining in my mind the healing that was already taking place in my body. After days.. specifically noticing the things that were changing. It gets easier every day hon. Proud of you....... I know I wanted to quit for the New Year again..but I guess I wasn't quite ready.. I'll still kinda trying... thinking about not continuing .. going through the mental battle. :)

whatever you do don't start grabbing oreoles as a substitute. hard candy like lemon drops or peppermint will help with the need for some oral gratification and aren't too high in calories but be careful of eating too much. believe it or not, drinking a lot of water right now will really help. gets everything out of your body quicker.

stick with it! i quit 5 years ago after 30 plus years of smoking and it feels great. cheaper too. good luck!

Chew gum or suck on hard candies.......even take up a
hobby that involves occupying your hands, such as
drawing, fingerpainting (good stress reliever), working
w/ clay, masturbate (oops did i say that?)........or even
get involved w/ exercising, even if its just walking.......

My dad quit twice, but finally quit for good.....it will be
2 years this spring that he's been smoke-free, thanks
to participating in a study (sponsored by Yale U.) w/
combined the Patch and some pill that had not been
get approved officially by the FDA (this was back in 2001).
It wasn't easy, but he did it........but ended up gaining
some weight after....but lost the weight over time since
then.

I wish you good luck! :)

When I stopped I used straws (at least untill you get use to not smoking) to chew on the ends less gross then pens dont have to worry about getting fat (well I did I was pregnant at the time lol) but I stayed off for about a year that time. well that said its time for me to step outside.

Stop smoking and take-up blowjobs! :)
That way you at least have something in your mouth.
So be kind and smoke a cock.

I dont know if I could do that I think after a while I would want a cig just from the trill of giving all them blow jobs.

I agree with her! I took a hot bath and then I caved and smoked half of one. But that is still a huge improvement over a pack a day! Now if I could just get him to stop smoking in front of me, this would be a lot easier!

Thank you all for your wonderful suggestions! I'm so worried that I'll gain back all the weight that I just lost! I really like the straw idea; no calories!

If anyone has any more, I'll take them! I'll just have to try them all and see what works!

Hi

I stopped at midnight on the 31st too. I'm popping one of those suger free mint pearl things whenever I get the urge for a cigarette. A pack lasts a couple of days. As Nora said earlier about brushing your teeth, even if you smoke, a cigarette tastes rank just after you've brushed and these mints have pretty much the same effect.

Don't focus on the quitting....

When I'm in my quit mode, when I get the 'urge' I take a deep breath, all the way to capacity and marvel on how much air I can breathe in now that I quit. You also tell yourself at the urge, that you just had one, and if you tell yourself that enough, your mind believes it. Don't be so hard on yourself, if you take it calmly it'll be less stressful. :D :rose:

You outa smack the hubby

upside the head with a tampon for

smoking in front of you while you are tryin

to quit........inconsiderate shithead.......

My Mother smoked 3 packs a day.......my Father several cigars a day.......I never even tried a cig........

My Parents gave it up when my wife became pregnant......

You outa look at the kids and say to yourself.......

DO I WANT MY KIDS TO SMOKE.........DO I WANT MY KIDS TO INHALE THIS SHIT??????
