Two words come to mind as I try to describe this. HOLY SHIT!

That and... and :awe:

Holy jesus h christ this is one very very very good movie.
The plot may not be as strong as in the first one, but the action scenes in it, really really really make up for it. The action scenes are like...WOW!
It's really hard to put into words The Two Towers.

So I'll just say this. Take 4 hours out of your day and get a movie ticket and freaking watch this movie. (No the movie isn't 4 hours, it's 3 hours long again, but with the lines you'll get, it'll be 4 hour wait.)

P.S. The ending isn't as sudden as in the first one, you can tell when it was ending, which is a good thing.

P.P.S. I STILL can't get over all those action scenes.

P.P.P.S. There is quite a bit of humor in it too if you look at the right things, most of them are right in front of ya tho.

SEE THIS NOW!

Since I live in bumfuck Ohio...I can't see it till 4:30 this afternoon.

Thanks for confirming what I was already anticipating.

I must see this flick sometime this week.

How were the effects? Up to par with the first?

Bumfuck ohio isn't so bad, especially if there is bumfucking going on.

Alright that settles it. I'm going to have to murder someone for tickets.

The previews look AWESOME!

Thanks for the review Cibo though it wouldn't have stopped me anyways :D

ROFL...no problem.

Oh and a note...it was crowded as hell in the theaters.

Prob people hanging out with swords and black robes too. I'll bet there were even ppl from the Society of Creative Anacrinisms there all gussied up in their mideval finest :)

Movies like this always calls out us geeks. Like that guy on top of the mountain in the Riccola ads heh heh.

No fair! I won't get to see it until Jan or maybe Feb. (The drawback to not being able to speak the local language- I have to wait until the AF base gets the movie :( ) So, lucky you, Cibo and I hope the rest of you get to see it soon!

The ending was in the wrong place ... again.

They didn't even show Shelob!!!!

But, all in all, it was a great movie... If you're a Tolkien purist, be forewarned that the director takes great liberties with the story.

I've never read the books so I dunno about any liberties, all I know is that it was a great movie.

And 95% of the people there were teenagers...heh

You've never read the books ...

BLASPHEMOR!!!!!

I know what you should get for Christmas this year ;)

Not where I saw it. It was a young crowd ... but most of them were college aged fuckers.

I've read LOTR and 'The Hobbit' four times ... and The Quenta Silmarillion twice.

I hope my guy wants to go see this movie.

If not - tough for him! I'm going to drag him along anyhow. lol

:D

(We rented LOTR because we were both slackers and hadn't seen it while it was in the theaters. I think he liked it, but starting it at 9pm was a bad idea - he was fighting sleep by the end!)

ARRGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its not out here till December 26.... please please please please keep anything that might spoil it.. to yourself (yeah yeah i know its hard to give spoilers to a movie that was first in book form, but that's not the point :p)

I officially hate anyone who gets to see this in the theatre.

*waiting for the DVD... The special edition... Oh hell, I'll just buy both again*

I just got home from it... WOW! Legolas and Gimli just STOLE this movie... Legolas KICKED ass... and Gimli ruled too. The Ent's were fantastic, the Battle of Helm Deep and Isengard *Drool*

I looooove Peter Jackson

I'm working my way through all the documentaries on the BIG DVD set from the last movie...

I shudder to think it only gets better.

*wants to build a house that looks like Rivendell*

Ohhh, Rivendell rocks. I want it too. I wanna be an Elf... or at least fuck one... mmmmmm.... but yeah... did you watch the cast commentary? I wanna teach some of my friends how to play "tig"

Not yet, still on the first "extras" disc. Got through the "design" documentary last night.

I would buy every prop and set piece off them if they'd let me.

I hope to get to the cast by the end of the week.
*is very curious now*

An elf wished me a merry x-mas... I don't suppose that counts :(

No, Christmas elves aren't sexy... well. they can be.. but yeah, check out the Cast Commentary. It's cool as hell. I assume you already watched the kickass movie full with the deleted and extended scenes, right?

*NOD NOD NOD*

I know its not exactly like the books, and although I like to be a literary purist, this stuff tooo good to disparage based on text omissions.

Example: Tom Bombadil. Sure he was in the book, but if you had to cut something, I would have cut him too.

Who else thinks that Hugo Weaving as Elrond was beyond perfect?
