And I'm bringing it up again. I love stories taking place in the old days, like 1700s. I like the thought of the beautiful dresses and all that shit. however, there is not nearly enough stories about it. I mean, say I'm searching for a story that takes place on a ship, and what do the search results give me? space ships. Pirates? A ship full of female pirates having their way with a male slave(dont get me wrong, not a bad idea, but not my thing.) If anyone could write any it would be much appreciated by at least little old me.

What about something set in perhaps the Medieval-era or the Renissance? I've always had a fascination with things set in that time period myself. 1400-1600s.

back then women were considered bad luck aboard, though clearly some shipped as passengers or the US would never have been settled.

How about a crossdressing story of a young woman disguised as a cabin boy? The Captain admires "his" hips but rejects the urge, not being gay, etc.....

I, too, love those time periods...but also love realistic stories. I know I could never do a period piece justice since I would probably get facts wrong, etc.

*sigh*

But, I would also love to read various period pieces that did have attention to detail. :)

Ditto. I had in mind a medivalish time period story, with the exception of allowing magic (making it more fantasy, I guess). But there would have been kings and lords, serfs and wenches, the whole kaboodle. But it struck me that not only do I have zero idea how things were back then, but that I don't know the lexicon of the middle ages. It just wouldn't work, so I've ababnoned it.

Just as well, I've got other stories to work on.

Go try some Arthurian legend with perhaps why word of Lancelot's "good deeds" was spreading through the high society ladies of the time.

That's a great time to write "Otherside of Camelot" stories about.

Sabledrake has written several historical stories, most particularly the Ravishing of Constance series. I highly recommend it.

So I'm just gonna say holy shit. I just finished reading, 11:13 at night, I started at like, 2 this afternoon. That was insane.

His series was, or you reading it all at once? ;)

He (Sabledrake) is a she. In addition to the ravishing of Constance series, she has written many other stories, quite a few of which are set in fantasy or history settings.

Insane in a good way, I hope ;) I'm amazed, flattered and impressed that you read it all in one go!

Thanks, sirhugs, for the plug! And for the clarification; the Sabledrake handle leads most readers to think I'm a guy.

I've always had a weakness for pirates and swashbucklery goodness. The Constance story was tremendously fun to write. Though I gotta say, when I set out I had no idea it would turn into THAT lengthy a project! Whew!
