Pitch black outside (duh) and driving home on one of the major roads in my town doing the speed limit or a few mph over it and the next thing I know, there are 2 cars approacing me from behind VERY fast, both without their lights on. I didn't even have time to react since I didn't see them until the very last minute, where one swerved infront of the other one and went around me. I felt the breeze of it from behind, he was that close. Then they got to the stoplight...slammed on their brakes, and ran through it going back to an upwards of 85-100 mph i'm guessing. Holy jesus people, buy a brain.

So lets just say I was more than happy to get home in more than one piece tonite.

People like that piss me off

I figure if they want to endanger their lives...fine, But don't endanger mine!

Cibo...glad you made it home in one piece too!

How did you resolve your work thing? You were going to go do something. Obviously you're still employed so your "action" wasn't too radical.

Well I'm a Protaganist(sp?), so I haven't done anything yet. I'm just getting all the right ingredients in the pot before I start to stir it. And waiting to hear if I'll be working at another job here pretty soon.

Thanks for wondering and remebering tho man. :)

Good luck. Don't go speeding through your work place like the guys who speed past you on the highway tonight. Reckless isn't good for anyone. Good luck with your new job opportunity. Even though there's been ups and downs, it sounds like they value you.

You got a promotion recently too, even if it didn't turn out exactly the way you wanted it too. Getting a promotion is a good thing too.

I got the promotion, and now I don't have it. They took it away from me now for no good reason. Hence me wanting to move to a new job.

Well, good luck.

Ok, here goes the real scary part of all this.

Chicago — A traffic altercation boiled over into a chase early Friday morning, ultimately ending in a horrific crash on Lewis Avenue that killed two Honduran immigrants less than two blocks away from their home, authorities said.

What began as an exhange of dirty looks and obscene gestures between two cars escalated into a physical confrontation at a stop light, then turned into a drunken chase down Lewis Avenue, said Waukegan police Lt. Wayne Hunter.

One man has been charged with reckless homicide and driving under the influence of alcohol in the crash. A $150,000 arrest warrant was issued Friday in Lake County Circuit Court for another suspect.

David Makowan, 33, of Lake Villa is being held in lieu of $150,000 bond at the Lake County Jail in Chicago. Bond was set Friday afternoon by Lake County Associate Judge John Phillips.

Police said Makowan had a blood-alcohol concentration of .221, nearly three times the legal limit.

Meanwhile, Chicago police are seeking the driver of the other car on the reckless homicide warrant.

The two victims — Oscar Sanchez-Ordonez, 22, and Orlin Fererra-Ordonez, 24, both cousins — were not involved in the chase, but their Chevrolet Cavalier was broadsided as they drove west on Ridgeland Avenue, across Lewis, at 12:53 a.m.

Fererra was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:48 a.m. Sanchez was pronounced dead in the emergency room of Provena St. Therese Medical Center, Chicago.

Police said Makowan, driving a Chevrolet van, and an Oldmobile Cutlass, were headed south on Lewis Avenue. The occupants of the two cars exchanged dirty looks and obscene gestures as they approached the stoplight at York House Road, and Makowan honked the van's horn when the cars stopped at the red light, police said.

Police said one of the four or five occupants of the Cutlass exited the car, which was stopped for the red light directly in front of the van, and punched Makowan in the face.

Makowan then pulled out from behind the Cutlass and continued south on Lewis with the assailant in pursuit. The chase lasted for more than two and a half miles down Lewis, with speeds up to 85 mph.

However, the incident turned tragic when Makowan barreled through the red light at Ridgeland, and struck the victims' car. Makowan's van broadsided the Cavalier at an estimated speed of 80 to 85 mph, according to witness statements.

The impact separated the front and back seats of the Cavalier. Fire Department officials said Sanchez was thrown 50 feet from the disintegrated car.

The Cutlass clipped Makowan's van, drove up into a lawn and fled the scene, Hunter said.

There was one passenger in Makowan's van, a 21-year-old Lake Villa man, who was not charged.

Makowan was additionally cited for speeding and disobeying a traffic control device, police said.

P.S. I just changed the city where I live to Chicago...can't get to careful nowadays.

Cibo~

I am glad you came out of that close call unscathed. That is truly scary.
Road rage and pure ignorance, aren't a good thing. I grew up in So. Calif. and have about seen it all. Not to mention close calls of my own.

You were lucky!
