Here in Florida it is legal to sell damned near any type of firework made. (Excluding only the larger, what one would consider to be comercial sized ones from what I have heard.) Yep, it's legal.

On the other hand the way the laws are interprated, it is illegal to own or use any type of firework that launches into the air or explodes.

I can't figure this one out although it doesn't really bother me much. (I make my own explosives.)

So a store that sells fireworks can do that, as long as they don't own what they're selling?

Awesome.

Got to get those tourist dollars, Cat. If it were illegal to sell them, people wouldn't be able to come into Florida to buy what isn't availble in neighboring states/communities. :D

I suspect there is another more general law being interpreted as banning aerial and explosive fireworks; some catchall like "reckless endangerment."

In Myrtle Beach, SC it's legal to sell/buy them but illegal to set them off. But you still see some amazing displays on the beach.

I bought all my fireworks in Alabama before they were legal in Florida or Georgia. Now those were firecrackers! Cherry Bombs, M-80's, cannon crackers...mass destruction guaranteed! :D

Oh you see some interesting ones down here as well. You also see people being idiots with them. (Not that this is limited to Palm Beach County mind you.)

Me I don't buy them only because I have more fun making my own and setting them off. (Not to mention my neighbors reactions to them when I do set them off.)

My all time favorite was a rocket I made. A three inch diameter PVC Pipe filled woth propelent mixed with powdered copper. The rocket was six feet long and capped with a 1/4 pound charge of Flash Powder. When I launched it from the beach it was truly a sight to be seen.

Yeah, I love the "Watch this!" scenes.

That's a big do-it-yourselfer! Do it again and I'll comment favorably on your Youtube video! :)

I think someone ought to build a sawdust cannon. We ought to be able to see that puppy from clear over here! :D

Does that utilize the inherent flammability of finely ground vegetable matter, like what makes grain silos explode? ;)

You ought to see all the traffic crossing into SC from NC right now. In SC you can get the "good" stuff they don't sell here.

Michigan is one of the states where its illegal to sell or own these types of fireworks. Doesn't stop people though. Especially my nimrod neighbor.

I don't think I'd mind so much if he didn't: A) Set them off every half hour from 9pm until midnight, damned near every night, and B) Set them off BETWEEN our trailers when even the slightest wind or aiming the thing wrong could send a flying fire bomb toward MY trailer.

My time estimate is accurate above. What I wanna know is, how does he afford all those damned fireworks? He usually starts the second to last weekend of June and doesn't let up until July 4th.

I remember when the Goodpasture grain elevator in Houston, TX exploded. I was out in the yard, and I heard what seemed to be a thunderclap. However, it was sunny and fair outside. I later learned what it was.
