went down well with the Miami Cubans.

I bet it went down even better with brother Jeb who's going to need those Miami votes later this year.

Bush will do anything, say anything for his party and family.

It's a pity he hasn't got the same sense of loyalty for his country...

Yeah, cuz normally Republicans are pretty strong supporters of Communists.

Excellent, Peeper!

A national policy established under JFK, supported by LBJ, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush Clinton, Congress and our national policy advisors is now an example of disloyalty and nepotism!?

Peeps, your bias is showing!

Rhumb:rolleyes:

Typically yeah. Why else do we need a monster military (and the military industrial complex that just happens to go with it) if we don't have a good enemy?

Where was all the talk of biological terror before Carter's trip. On the back page if even there.

Handy and timely little speech though wasn't it.

Bush didn't mean a word of it. He did it for his brother.

After all Jeb helped him out, why not return the favour?

After all what are families for...

Yep....George W. is right out there on a limb with 8 or 9 other presidents, and a Congress almost rabid to keep the embargo in place.

RawHumor - Yeah, cuz normally Republicans are pretty strong supporters of Communists.

Ain't THAT the truth, Comrade!?!

LMFAO

Perhaps more "Handy and Timely" in that we've just witnessed the densest President of the 20th century return from Cuba and attempt to reinstitute his wonderful "Iran Strategy of World Love" policies?

One thing that GW is credited with by all that have met with him is that he says what he means, and he means what he says.

Like with China over the plane
Taiwan under thrteat of invasion
Korea as part of the axis of evil
Terrorism
and on...and on...and on

Two great Bush phrases which will go down in the annals of history...

"Watch my lips"
"Not negotiable"

Once the elections are over he'll be cosying up to Castro...

He should really be called the U-Turn Prez.

i take it that statement doesnt include anything mentioned or not mentioned in the papers (for example the non mentioning of the oil situation hes trying to create in afghanistan for himself and his corporate country

And look what I've just found...

in today's New York Times...

"But the president's position was enthusiastically applauded today by huge numbers of Cuban-Americans, who were essential to Mr. Bush's slender victory in Florida, and the presidential election, in 2000. The Cuban-American community is also important to this year's re-election campaign of the president's younger brother Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida."

Well, well, well...

What a coincidence.
