Well, there are 8 inches on the ground here in JMJville with another 12-14 still to come (more or less). Word is that the low pressure zone that's been feeding the cold air (thanks to a stalled Northeast High) is also feeding a second developing Low off the VA coast. That one's going to dump in the evening and all through the night. Forecasts right now call for 13-22 inches before it's done. The wind has been picking up, too - 13 MPH right now, but gusts in the night could hit 40 MPH. Temps are rising, believe it or nor, from about 16 degrees to somewhere in the mid-20's tonight.

No Pizza Stud work for me today since the store's closed. It's nothing but vegging out, doing a bit of housework, making a big pot of chili, and waiting for the Simpsons 300th! :D

Tomorrow's a completely different story. I have to go to work then. :(

You and me both. It's kind of funny, though, watching the snowplows. The snow's filling in almost as fast as they're moving it. One truck's gone up and down our street ten times in the last hour. I want to ask him if he's planning on staying all night.

not if this keeps up!!

I don't have a choice. At my full-time job I'm considered an essential employee. I have to be there no matter what. If I can't drive in myself, they send a four-wheel drive truck for me or (in one case, long ago) a HumVee. The good news there is that I get decent compensation for having to come in when others don't.

mmmmmm sounds so cozy, Jim...

enjoy MrWinky!....that'll keep you warm and happy....;)

Interesting tidbit

For the 3.5 years that I lived up there I was one of the drivers of the four wheel drives that went to get people.

Why didn't you call on my shift?

for the 2nd day in a row, I'm snowed in as well, just not as much snow, yet.

*raises my beer to JMJ*

Luckily, it looks like this one is going to pass to the south of me. In a way I'd rather have the snow. It's only 7 degrees here right now and snow would mean it would be warmer. I still don't have any place to put any more snow though. The stuff from the last 2 storms still hasn't melted.

Sounds like a good day for hot cocoa and a few movies.

I would have, hon, but the folks for whom I've worked, and work now, have their own 4WD trucks and such. We never used outside folks, like hospitals do.

I wasn't driving one of the two I have darling man......I was on a military base.....they sent me out in a Hummer.

That was fun. Tore heck out of some guys yard but the street was blocked and I was trying for traction.

hey, jazzmanjim -

yeah, i went out and swept off my car intending to go to Roundhouse Theater & get a paycheck, drop off keys this morning - and by the time I worked my way around my car, I said, awww, to hell with it.

Are we really supposed to get so much more snow!?!?!? Woo hoo!

And to think I was about to start a thread complining about all the rain we have been getting in C2Cville.

If it weren't so damn cold out I'd be loving this weather. Although I am HIGHLY jealous that VT's not getting more of this snow!

Powder days are almost better than sex. :p

I was watcing one of the local news channels this morning (Channel 9, for you locals). You could tell that they were on a skeleton crew, in that the head sports guy was on the anchor desk. The weather guys were having fun with the telestrator and the chromakey (the background maps and the thing that writes on the screen). the othe reporters were out at various locations, just apparently enjoying the hell out of themselves.

They even unveiled a new piece of high-teck equipment!

At one point they cut to a shot of a ruler in the snow and over it was the graphic "Storm Stick 9000". For some reason, that struck me as really, really funny. :)

It was obvious that, even though they were giving all the info they had, they were bound and determined to be loose and have a lot of fun with it, too.

Ya know, for once I am happy that I live in MI and not further south.....We aint got that much snow after all.

Wow! I'm completely snowed in too. Gotta be at least a foot out there.

The things you learn when you step away from the computer and look out the window...

Yeah well I’m stuck at home on a gorgeous day doing homework!

I was just out in the hot tub and the wind was blowing and the sun was shining and it was raining.

I was hungry so am having a big salad with romaine, tomatoes, blue cheese and tuna.

So, I guess I am vegging, too. :)

Oh we still got the sub zero temps here. But only a measly one foot of snow :D

I don't really want to gloat but we're having one of the best days we've had in a long time up here. The snow is about hip high in the yard and won't be completely gone for at least two months (maybe more if last winter is anything to go by) BUT today is clear blue sky and temps in the mid 20s. Tomorrow may even get up to 30!!!

We average 170 inches of snow per year. Four of the last seven years we've had over 300! We deserve this.

I'm actually quite excited. The snow is orgasmic here and the temps are supposed to *prays* get into the 20's tomorrow. Mmmm....

Although I can't say I'd absolutely love about a foot of fresh pow, I think I can handle the few hundred inches we've gotten so far :nana:
