I did a quick search on Yahoo for the word "snooby", and was surprised that there was a post on something called "Survivor.com" message board with the word snooby in it...

The real surprising thing was that the post was by someone called "malishka". I checked the profile, and it doesn't appear to by the Mishka of Lit fame. But it VERY interesting how close the names are.......... "inquiring minds want to know"....

is it just me, or did kel been coming off as an airhead lately? ever since they switched people she has been acting snooby. u would think that she would be more intelligent since she got such a high score on her SAT's.

It's not in the dictionary. I made it up, but it's becoming quite popular in my circle of friends. I'm thinking of contacting Webster's next week.

So far no guesses have been correct, and I am of no relation to Malishka. Though that is really freaky.

the word does acutally appear to be a word in German, as it appears several times in the Yahoo search in German website description. But someone who speaks German should answer that. The word also appears several times in reference to "Trojans". I assume the virus type...not the condom....

OK, now that everyone has lost interest in the word, Never told me to post the definition of snooby. It's really quite a simple conjunction of two words - snooty and snobby. It's a magnification of the two words. I use it to describe all the unneccessarily upscale things I come across (and as a way to chastise myself for my indulgences in such things). Places that only offer valet are snooby. Grocery stores that carry cloudberry jam and refuse to stock Coke are snooby.

So there you have it. Mystery solved. Now to track down this survivor chick...
