but I need to hear some happy news...

I will start...my sister in Montana just had a healthy baby girl, so I am an aunt again!:)

Congratulations...

my cousin is visiting on the weekend on sunday and shes bringing her new 4 week old baby girl to see me i havent seen her yet and im REALLY looking forward to it ... i love babys

Well, happy news, huh? Well, I litter trained my kitten in under a week and my 3 yr old son can now button his own shirt. Those are a couple little things that make me a little bit happy. Everyday life improving just a bit. :)

Happy news.

My dad has been really sick. For the past five years, we've been trying to figure out what's wrong with him, and every test had come up negative (except for skin cancer, but the affected area was removed with no complications).

The day of the tragedy, I called mom and dad - hey, it's gathering instinct, what can I say? I wanted my people around me.

We were all pretty devastated, but dad mentioned that, on a lighter note, he went to a different doctor, who tested him for diabetes, and the test came back positive. Now, this is *good* news because he's been assured that this type is 100% reversible with treatment, exercise, and diet change.

Two days into treatment, he's already feeling better. After five years of worrying and fretting, and watching him get worse and not knowing what to do, it looks like I'm going to have my daddy back again.

Very good news, in a time when good news is much needed.

SweetCherry...just you wait...shoelaces are next!

The 5 yr old already does that. She also ties her brother's shoes just because she can. Ah, the joys of having an older child to help. :)

lavy...good luck on your interviews...

s-g..nice av! is that lisa as well?

people keep asking me that and i keep saying maybe ;) ... i'll get in trouble if i say much more :)

and good luck too lavender you'll do great im sure you come across as such a cool person on here its bound to shine through in interviews too

*nodnods* You're know it. :)

He's going to be just fine. It's a matter of doing what you need to do to feel better, and he *wants* to feel better. He's felt so bad for so long now that the mere idea of eating food he knows is going to make him sick makes him, uh, sick. :)

I don't always get along with the old man. It's kind of like how Americans get along, actually. We fight amongst ourselves until we're threatened, then just try to separate us. I'm just so happy the old guy's going to be around for many, many years. I'd hate to have to find someone else to bicker with *this* late in the game. ;)

Thanks for the thread, bratcat. Thinking about this piece of good news is a breath of fresh air amidst all this grieving.

2 of my sisters are expecting, one in Feb and one this Dec.

I think thats pretty cool. :D

Yes, tell us about your first time, AFM.

Details, punkin' we want details.

Lock the door and tell us all night long. *grin*

*laughs*

That's not what I meant, but now that I think about it...

;)

And congrats, OUTSIDER! I'm an eight-time auntie, and it's great! Spoil them rotten, then send them back to the siblings that picked on me mercilessly when we were growing up. It's win-win. :p

I'm the youngest of four, so there's eight sprogs between three of them. I don't have any of my own, but goodness, with so many kids to lavish with affection and gifts (I try to find noisy ones, to remind my siblings they're in my thoughts), I get all my motherly instincts fulfilled nicely.

My dad is the youngest of nine. I've got more cousins than I can count. :)
