Smart Phones in the bathroom makes for an Unproductive Employee

People with smart phones spend extra time in the bathroom at work. A buddy of mine works for a company that actually timed people going in and out. On average, people that take their smart phone into the bathroom with them spend an extra 6 minutes.

That is wasted productivity, and the employer gets screwed.

I have not googled it. No small surprise to me that cell/smart phone usage in the work place is huge waste of time on the employer's dime.

My employer allows the use of smart phones during work. Better on our own phones than on their computers. I think they also understand that we are professionals and adults. Our time isn't monitored. We are all salaried. Our job is to get the work done. If we want to use our smart phones and then stay late to finish up the work, that's our choice.

Someone timing me in the bathroom? How humiliating would that be.

Whenever someone calls or texts me when I am on the toilet, I have a standard response. "Hey, I'm sorry, but I am having a private moment here on the toilet". Most times, there is a long pause. Followed by, "Oh. I'm sorry. Call me when you are done." Most times, when I call them back a minute or two later, they forgot why they called or text me.

I never said I didn't when they send me to shit hole places like south Africa I take flight somewhere nice on the way back home.

You would feel differently if you were the one paying for that time. How did the world ever survive without this addiction to cell phones? What is so important you have to take a phone with you every time you take a shit?
