He's nervous about making moves on girls because he doesn't want them to laugh at him, and he makes a huge deal out of it to himself and to the reader. Then after quite a lot of courting with one specific female, he doesn't try to pull away whe she starts making the moves on him. It's not a spectacular thing, but it is for our character, who is expecting rev...re...uhm..revultion?
