I didn't go as I kinda thought the woman leading the event was staging it for the not to remind people theta law allows it, but to get the law changed so it was illegal.

The Justice Secretary in the UK Government just got into terrible trouble for saying that there are different degrees of rape and that is why there are different sentences handed down.

What is wrong with saying that?

a) In a public park late at night a man jumps a woman he does not know and has sex with her at knife point - this is rape.

b) A boy one year over the age of consent is madly in love with a girl six months under the age of consent who loves him; one evening things go too far and he takes her virginity with her full cooperation - in the UK this is rape, because she is under age and cannot, therefore, give her consent.

Do people really think that the ten years in jail given to the man in a) is also an appropriate sentence for the boy in b)?
