Sections 62 to 67 of the Criminal Justice Act 2008, passed in May of this year, make it a criminal offence punishable by up to three years in prison to possess material that is both pornographic and extreme.

VERMILION

Cheer up. The producers of SESAME STREET now warn parents that the early years of the program are unfit for children.

PREDICTION: Within 5 years all reading matter will be restricted to listed ingredients on Corn Flake boxes.

Fascinating - and disturbing - porn and immigrants eh, the usual fears of underground Satanic Dionysian vitality.

Fascinating, because I've been reading a book on the subject of pornography suppression efforts in the United States, and much of it is based on common law inherited from British law.

It's called Rereading Sex: Battles over Sexual Knowledge and Suppression in Nineteenth-Century America: Helen Lefkowitz Horowitz, and I highly recommend it if nothing else as background for what will hopefully be legal challenges to this particular statute.

Over here, it has a lot to do with Prop 8, in a round about way, i.e., abusing personality anomalies in the legal system to defend the economic status quo, usually expressed as "Church and State".

Thank God,

I, for one, am thoroughly fed up with the 'Ginger Minge' (aka: Harriet Harmen) proclaiming her views upon th UK population. Her calculated provocative displays from the position as Leader of the House of Commons (Leader of House of Representatives) are both insulting, to the common man (i.e. JBJ and any male with right wing aspiration) and calculating. It is a matter of record that her husband inherited the paper (tissue) empire created by his father!

The quicker the Ginger Minge is forced... ok underground... to succumb to the norms of society, instead of continually parading her breasts and latest hair tint in the early morning hours on TV (Parliament Channel) the sooner some of us will be able to get a decent nights sleep!

I read it. It's UK law. The only thing I really pay attention to in UK news is Page 3!

I'll wager that I'm the only person on this board who opposes restrictions on any mode of expression.

What were you thinking when you unleashed Political Correctness? Did you not foresee that they'd come for the smut, too?

I don't know. I'm opposed to anything that shows damage to the anus as well. I look forward to long legal battles regarding anal health and well-being.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Government by Nanny!
So...we were living in a Nanny State back in the 19th century and early 20th century when both porn and certain sexual positions and gay sex were completely outlawed?
