Slightly Peeved

I've had a story lurking for about four months (Justice? - it's in my sig line) with hardly any reads. As of this morning it had 9 votes, 8 x 5 and a 4. The person who voted the four dropped me a note to tell me why the marked it down.

I've just checked and it's finally achieved it's tenth vote - you can guess what come next. Even another four would have had at in top spot on the Erotic Horror List.

It's not that I want to be top dog, (ok I do - just for a couple of hours) and it's still my highest ranked Lit story, even so. I'm peeved.

How did they know to vote it low? Or was I just unlucky?

I've had a couple stories pop onto the charts with 10 votes at 5.00 ... and the 11th vote is inevitably a bomb. I try to print a PDF snapshot of the Top List page for posterity -- just so I can remind myself how it was doing before it pinged the troll radar.

I hear ya.

I've had a couple stories pop onto the charts with 10 votes at 5.00 ... and the 11th vote is inevitably a bomb. I try to print a PDF snapshot of the Top List page for posterity -- just so I can remind myself how it was doing before it pinged the troll radar.

I've had the same thing happen at least three times, and probably more. It's almost as if trolls had some kind of alarm system that alerts them when a story gets its tenth vote and pops up on the top of its list. Within hours, maybe even minutes, the trolls have cast their one-bombs and knocked it out of that spot. Hopefully the story will recover and work its way back up to a high position.

How do you know what they voted? Did I miss a section? The only way I know I got a one bomb is when a story with over a hundred good votes takes a dive on one vote.

Hey, it could be worse.

I had a string of 5 votes (No, it didn’t deserve them, but that’s beside the point.) Then I suddenly got a 1 or 2 (math retard) along with feedback ‘explaining’ why.

In a few simple yet obscene words he (or a very strange she) commanded me to take my “f**ken Shakspare” off this sainted venue.

I had put it in Non Erotic.

In any case, it has not received a vote since it went off the New List with 7 votes out of only 860 reads (or lookie-lieus).

What bugs me is that while it is my shortest story, it required the greatest amount of research, to make certain I had the quotes correct.
