For the first time in a very long time, I found myself without a running story that I was working on.

I had nearly nine different ideas that I was working on, but I had a severe case of writers apathy, unable to focus on one more more than a paragraph or two.

Then I decided to revisit a fairly recent piece that I promised I would pick up again in the future.

Once I had the characters I had already worked with, it was like slipping on an old glove. Suddenly, I wrote three pages in the space of about fifteen minutes. My fingers were flashing. The fire was in my gut.

It's just awesome to go back to stories that are sound in their worlds. Where the characters are already developed, and the worlds are full of possibilities. In all of my new stories, they are still half-formed, and I have no idea if the end lies in sight.

Firecracker chapter two is going to be amazing.

There are a few characters I really want to return to; I just don't have any ideas for them yet.

Good to hear. There's also the oppositte of course, when you return to something you wrote a while ago and end up thinking: "What the hell is this mess?"

That's why removing the notes and outlines is my final action before submitting.
