Sleeping problems and things heard . . .

My cat has a deviated septum due to the abusive way she was raised. There are times when her breathing at night sounds like a child crying. Some of those times I've gone into my kids rooms to find that child, only to figure out later it's my poor cat simply trying to breathe.

And he's still alive? I'd have killed him for that. You know, after I beat the crap out of him.

He was sober and sat on my bed with a kitchen knife in his hand.

We had a chat and he left.

I did tell a good friend about it. A couple of weeks later my ex was beat up in a fight and had his arm broken. I have no idea about the details. It could have been coincidence.

i have a hard time falling asleep usually, and most of the time it's not at a 'decent' hour. i have weird dreams when i do finally sleep like last night, i had a dream that i was at my cousins house (which looked wayyy different than her actual house) and she says HE'S HERE!!! and i'm like who? she says, THE ROCK!! LOL for those of you not familiar with WWE Wrestling....The Rock is a 'character' in wrestling...anyway....so i say, yea?? well i want to see Him! so she tells me we have to get naked and crawl around on the floor and he'll find us (wtf?) so we strip down and we are only g-strings (HAHA) and he finds her, and then he comes after me and i'm so in awe i just stare up at Him, and all of a sudden i'm hit in the face with a single tail (again wtf??) so Master comes into the room and of course has this look like what the fck are you doing??? i'm crying and telling him that i just got hit across the face with this long single tail (it was plastic, don't ask) so Master starts yelling at Him and The Rock turns around and Master is like 'oh' and that was it! i woke up, unable to move and shaking my head wondering wtf just happened.....it took me like 5 minutes to realize i was not at my cousin's house, that i was instead in a hotel room with Master, and i was safe, so i snuggled up to Him and went back to sleep. my dreams are not always that strange though.

when i'm in the house alone, it's hard for me to fall asleep because i hear every little crack of the house, every little thud that the cat makes and my mind makes it more than it is and i lay there terrified to even move. my biggest fear is someone breaking into my house and me being helpless and not knowing what to do....this is why i hate living alone...wow..did i ramble off topic? if so..i'm sorry lol

I don't do the slow waking up, but I do wake up terrified. I have since I was a child. I also do the 'waking up sure something is wrong' thing. I've woken all the way up halfway to the kids room, terrrified that something's gonna happen and i need to be there.
The last time I woke up feeling like something was wrong my water broke, so I'm hoping not to have that happen again soon. This one's not due til april and I'd like to hold onto it until then (I don't want to have the baby end up in the NICU)

Yeah, that'd be bad. I had way more problems with waking up scared when I was pregnant, or when the kids were infants.

I remember when we put littleD in his own room for the first time. I woke up in the middle of the night because I was hearing this strange popping noise. I woke bigD up and we sat and listened. Turned out our baby monitor was so sensitive we were hearing little farts that had woke me up!

I can remember the first weekend Hubby & I spent at our new house out in the middle of buttfuck no-where... there was no noise... I was so used to the city 'white noise' that I got freaked when I heard nothing... Like something BAD was about to happen... (I read to much horror...). we eventually figured it out, why I was so tired when country living should have relieved the stresses & found a fan & put it on in another room for background noise till I got used to the quiet.

Hubby normally doesn't snore unless he is VERY VERY tired...
Then I can't sleep till I am exhausted, unless I get subconsious b4 he does :)

yeah i have a hard time sleeping too

I lived on the side of Cheyenne mountain up in Colorado Springs and heard this blood curdling woman's scream in the middle of the night. Was just in shorts and threw some shoes on, grabbed my .9mm and ran out to find out what the hell was going on. Sounded like someone was dragging a gutted woman into the trees so I was running like mad and it took me a little while to figure out that no-one moves that fast while hurt then I realized that I was actually chasing after a damn mountain lion.

Stupid mountain lions!

Around the time of 9/11 we were living near these train tracks. Not so close as to be a problem, but if it was real quiet (like it is at night) you could hear when the train went through. We'd been living there almost a year and that train had never woke me up till the night of 9/11. That night the train went through three times (as opposed to it's normal once), and each time I woke up in a dead sweat, sure it was an airplane, and running for my girl's room. I was halfway to their room before I'd realize it was just the train.

I can easily relate to the city/country thing.

I live on a very busy main road, traffic, sirens blaring and people shouting... the whole nine yards. I sleep better in the day when it is non-stop noise than I do at night when it is quieter.

At his house the quiet stillness of the country takes alot of getting used to ( his snores do not count as traffic noise  ).

You shouldn't bring claws and teeth to a dom fight. That mountain lion was totally outclassed, much like a baby trying to hold onto candy!

For Betticus

Is this the one you were chasing?

Its a pic from the National Geographic site taken in Yellowstone Park 1999, it would have had time to get to you since that pic was taken

I dunno if it was the fever, but I actually woke up sure I heard my alarm at least twice this morning. I remember thinking it was curious it wasn't lit up wihen I hit the snooze button (the display lights up for 5 seconds when it goes off.) Then when I finally looked at it to check the time it was earlier that I thought - it had only gone off twice, but I'd hit snooze 4 times...I think this has happened before too. I'll look at the time and be surprised that it's only 7:16 instead of 7:32, which is the latest I go. Well, once I stayed until 7:38, but I was within seconds of being late that day. I seem to only have one speed of getting ready.

Another one is waking up in the middle of the night and trying to figure out how late/early it is by the window. then I'll hit the snooze bar. Oh it's 3, I guess I do have to go to the bathroom after all.

ive always had a very hard time sleeping...since i can remember it would take ma over an hour of lying with my eyes closed to go to sleep then id wake up screaming with nightmares... lol i remember this one time i had a friend over, i was like 14 or something and we were laying on my matress on the floor and the fan was going and i had was just about to fall asleep when i saw what looked like smoke filling the room. i started screaming FIIIREEE but when i sat up it was gone lol i still dont know what it was that made the room look so smooky but it scared me so bad haha. when my brother was a baby i was very protective of him... i was 10 when he was born and my mom was an a severly abusive relationship with an alcoholic(his father)so i was stuck taking care of my infant brother and 8 year old sister... i was very protective of my brother as he was a very sick child and would often wake up in the night ill... i worried that he wuold be sick in his crib and i would not know... plus his dad had a tendancy to get drunk and decide he was taking the baby and leaving (with no licence)which i would never alow and never did (when he was two his dad kidnapped him for 2 days but i was at school... i was some mad at mom tho lol he was fine tho when we got him back just malnourished) so i didnt trust to keep him in a crib... so i would lie down on my back and put him on my stomac and sleep that way.. i know they say it could be dangerous... i was a 10 year old child scared for his safety so i did what i thought i should... well anyways i never once rolled on him ever and i always woke up if he started to get sick...or even when he moved. we stayed that way till he was about 3 and a half or 4...he was no longer gettign sick and dad was outa the pic so i could relax and i started to train him back his own bed. that was years ago as i am now 18 and his mother is back in his life again but i still wake up in the night almost every night and go and check on him in his bed. funny how kids can do that to you. nothing else matters anymore but keeping them safe. little buggers! hehe

awww...wow i like this post alot, i can't imagine the things you went through at such a young age, i was abused in a relationship i was in and i know my kids felt and went through the same things you did..which is the reason i left 10 years later than i should have, anyway i still wake up with nightmares about the things that happened to me at the hands of my ex husband and i think that has alot to do with why i don't sleep much and why it takes me so long to fall asleep at night. i too still check my son to see if he is breathing in the middle of the night.. he is 5 years old but he was sick most of his life and it just became habit, i stopped doing it with my other two a few years ago, but i do still check in on them to make sure they are ok....*smiles*

aww thank you Rose im glad that you liked my post... im very sorry for what you went through *hug* and just remember ten years is better then eleven...or twelve... you did great by getting out, some people never do. Im sorry your son was sick alot i do hope he is feeling better now! its too bad that we have hard time sleeping...people dont relize that abuse has a much longer effect on us then only while it was going on. if you ever want to talk just pm me! :)

Mamid told me about this...

Early on in our relationship we were asleep in bed togeather. We were spooned and snuggled when Mamid woke up. I had my arm over her and she was feeling nice and snug with my warmth. Until her bladder began to send signals. She decided to ease her way out of bed to head for the bathroom. She began to move and according to her my arm moved from being on top of her to holding her around her lower chest. Everytime she tried to move I would just tighten my arm's grip and then slacken off once she stopped struggling.

After about 20 minutes of this her back teeth began to take to the lifeboats and in desperation she started punching my arm. About 5 minutes of that and one sore fist later I woke up enough to let her go and roll over.

I swear to the gods I have no, absolutely no, recollection of the incident. Since then though, apparently we have had entire conversations that I have no memory of the next day.

compared to you folks i feel downright normal.

i talk in my sleep.

i also roll around, and twist the blankets around me into a nest. my roomate thinks its hilarious. this is also one of the reasons Sir calls me "puppy", becuase i curl up into the blankets and nest when i sleep.

I can't talk in my sleep. I've tried. I can't talk, I can't scream. All I can do is moan pitifully. *pouts*
