I was in Walmart, which I absolutely hate with every fiber of my body, when I noticed that the Sleeping Beauty trilogy was on the shelf. I thought to myself, "wow Wally World is opening it's doors to alternative stuff." Then I realized it was only on the shelf because of Fifty Shades of Grey was next to it.
Now, before all you kinky freaks, I mean that with all respect because I am counting myself as one, get all huffy about "Fifty", remember everyone has to get interested in BDSM their own way, even if it is with a highly over rated, under fed love story.
What I want to know for anyone who has read the Sleeping Beauty Trilogy, what aspect of it interested you the most?
The humiliation? The Hall of Punishments? the Bridle Path?
Which book did you enjoy the most?

For me, this is how I got interested in BDSM. I wanted to be a princess.... :D

OH FUCK yeah. Although it seemed to me that the Princes had more fun, especially that one dude Laurent :D

Yeah, I wanted to be a switchy Prince. ;)

When I read it, it was already maybe twenty years after I'd figured out my sexuality, and it was the first novel I read that sorta catered to my ideas of BDSM.

I couldn't help myself.

Hahahahahahaha . . . . thank you that is so funny . . . wiping the tears from my eyes laughing so hard :D

I regards to the Sleeping Beauty trilogy it was the whole control aspect being completely taken over with no say . . . I loved when the slaves were "displayed" I wanted to be the one displayed when I read those passages . . .

He was the best! I loved it when he was in the sultan's place.

Chained to the wall in the Queen's room.... being displayed, having someone watch you as you are teased by someone else, helpless....

I loved it better when he was back in the village in the public stables :D And yeah, that display thing. How awesomne, to know that nobody would ever sneer at you for being naked-- mess with you yes, but totally accepting of what you are within society.

And the guarantee that no actual harm would ever happen to yo no matter what stranger happened by. Perfect safety..

The stuff of never-never land, for sure. :cattail:

I read them in highschool and it's damn time I revisit them. I think those books are the reason I want a pony. Haha
Geez I'm old now but the scene that sticks in my head is when she's first taken away in the cart with the other slaves and fucks is it Laurent? She was a horny bitch, so hot!

It took me so long to read The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy because I had to keep stopping to ..ummm..take care of myself. I found them extremely hot. It's been a while since I've read them but I know the first time the prince spanked her in the tavern in the first book really got to my inner humiliation slut.

I wish I could remember the details..but I think it was the 2nd book..all that public beating in the square? I'm going to have to go back and read again.

Hmmm ... methinks I may have to make time for some reading! Thanks for the recommendation :D

wally world.. wow.

I cant remember much of them. They were the first books that made me think switchy thoughts though. To this day I still think about the morning rituals and the display settings.
That freedom to be totaly bound and free... it was amazing but never quite stuck with me as much wanting someone displayed like that.

The books did, however, get me into my first fight over my sexuality. My ex read them after me and threw one of them across the room. I remember him telling me that if impaling a man on a stone statue like in that disgusting book was my idea of fun then I was just too sick for words.

I look back on that and laugh now. He picked one thing, just one out of the whole book/trillogy to label me sick with. I should have left at that fight or any of the others but I thought red flags looked ever so pretty on a person. I also know that to this day, he's a closet bisexual sub with a heavy leaning toward men. So he was taking out his homophobia on me. Still. The sick label stuck for a while.

I have to say this was funny and oh so gross at the same time (still chuckling and grimacing) - I will hear him saying clitoris for the rest of my life eww !!

O/P I read almost all the series (Sleeping Beauty) and I liked it in general but thought that a few parts weren't in enough detail for my analytical side- I wanted more details. That's probably just me though, in general it was a good read!

Yes, the SB trilogy was a pretty good read. But trying to practice real-life BDSM using Sleeping Beauty as your guide is a bit like learning to fly Cessnas by watching Star Trek episodes.

I have encountered 'sick' label, first time I brought home a woman. From my grandmother, we have come to the conclusion not to discuss her hypocritical beliefs and my sexuality.
Someone will always label another as sick if the first persons idea of 'right' is challenged.

-giggles-

Yes, very much so.

It's sad that some stick it firmly in reality rather than how Stell a put it: The never-neverland bit.

People tend to do that though - Live in neverland.

Indeed.

I was 16/17 at the time. Ive learned better since then.

That's like my mother. Shes one of the most liberal and open people I know. But we just dont discuss my sexuality beyond the fact that I'm openly bisexual, a sadist and a bit a of a control freak. She doesn't like bdsm in any aspect. I suspect heavily that she knows but its not a conversation either one of us feel the need to have.

True-- but if you wanted to take a Cessna and make it look like The Enterprise-- those books could give you some decorating tips.
;)

That marble statue scene-- and several other versions also in the books-- I thought; "Why not?"

Impalement is a kink for me anyway. A lifesized statue would be... so damn pretty.

All I need is the patron, and I could sculpt that.

I could set a vibe in the erection...

The Black Jewels Trilogy, nothing like the SBT, but there is a " Marble Lady" in it, basically it is a square marble table, the male is kneeling facing it, there is an opening for his cock, and his hips are belted so he can only thrust forward not back, his arms are strapped around the sides and his chin is on the table, and whoever wishes sits atop.
I believe on could be made for woman too..... <where is my sketch pad?>

I must say that it would be pretty fascinating to be a furniture designer in these fantasy worlds.

Oh most definitely! If I was better at building I would in a heart beat!! I have been sketching left and right, designs, fabrics that could be used and easily cleaned. My creative juices are flowing...

Hmmm.. now I need to look for that trilogy.
I have the Sleeping Beauty trilogy--read it years ago..and had to stop in between my reads but I found it quite boring ;) only portions of it were hot--but most are very "imaginary" hehe, so its pretty hard to think of it happening to me in real life..haha..

The prince was actually the highlight of it. I think he got more from the trilogy.

Now the Black Jewels Trilogy is not erotica, it's a fantasy romance story. I do not want to give that impression.

I love this analogy! :D

Honestly, I never cared for the SB stories, though I only read the first book completely. The pony stuff does nothing for me, and the writing style was annoying. I think the only book by Rice that I've truly enjoyed was Cry to Heaven.

She writes books? That's interesting. I never knew that. ;)

Yeah, I made it about one-and-a-half books in before losing interest. Second book just didn't do it for me, and I think the sex-to-plot ratio was a bit high for my liking, though it's been a long time and I'm hazy on the details.
