Who else indulges? On purpose or because rude people insist on waking you up on sleep-in days?

I have been very sleep deprived for a week and a half now. I stay up late getting work done on weekends cause I work better at night and because I can sleep in. That and this past week has just had piles of homework and study that needed to be done. I logged about 45 hours since Sunday on the stuff.

The guys blew town for the day so I could sleep in and get some homework done. Now I'm awake because a stupid bitch somewhere decided to sic a telemarketer on me. Once up, getting back to sleep is friggin hard.

This is just so uncool.

You people need to be boring so I can go back to sleep. Me and sleep deprivation just do not get along. I'm going to doing the funky chicken on a daily basis if this crap keeps up.

Try the phone call form overseas you have been waiting on for a week, and its after you were in bed an hour.

THen you have to talk them through something that should only take 5 minutes but they fuck every instruction, eventually giving up after 1/2 hour to what? Do it again tonight.

Fuck it, I was comfy.

And I cant even get someone to come to bed with me, thank fuck for Ziggy.

I feel your pain, Muff. When my twins were infants, I couldn't even put a complete sentence together.

I'm not a good sleeper and anything can wake me up. Once I'm up, I'm up, even if it's only after four hours of sleep.

It sucks, I know.

Why not just stay up now, get some stuff done and nap later in the day?

Sleep deprivation has been my friend for a long time. I worked nights and was always being woken up during the day by damned telemarkerters . Since quitting my job, I still find it difficult to sleep at night, and find my body getting more tired during the day.

I really want to see KM doing the funky chicken.

So you really aren't interested in purchasing a combination double-paned window/inflatable air mattress/perfect pancake maker? Or is it that I just called too early?

If not completely satisfied, I will give you double your calls back! Promise.
;)

Seriously, I hate that they now call on weekends. Anytime during the day. You used to be safe from that garbage and only had to put up with it M-F 9-5.

I exist on five hours of sleep per night. About once a month I have a marathon sleep-in to catch up.

I do my best...everything...between the hours of 10 pm and 1 am.

I have the same problem KM. I can go to sleep at 3am, and if someone wakes me at 5am, I'm awake. And the thing is, I tend to function quite well without a lot of sleep. But I know that I need more sleep, so I have a routine.

You need to make a routine, so your body will know that it's time for sleep.

1) Take a very hot shower. This will relax and refresh your body, and it should wash away some of your energy as well.

2) Open a window to get some fresh air circulating, and then put blankets over your windows to make your sleeping room extra dark...a thick blanket can muffle outside sounds as well. A blanket under your sleeping room door can do the same.

3) Cool down your sleeping room as much as possible, and then get under a nice warm blanket.

4) Put on some light, soothing music. Make sure the volume is just high enough for you to hear.

Sleep seems to be eluding me these past couple of weeks.
I have a lot of home work and I have chapters to read , formulas to learn ... the list goes on and on ...

When I do finally go to bed, I just lie there wide awake. My thoughts are running wild ... I think I think to much , hence I can not fall asleep.

And, lately when I have been taking those little naps , just thinking I am going to get some sleep , the phone will ring. It will be friends wanting to talk about their work problems and I can not bring myself to hang up with them. Then there is that knock on the door by some one , this brings me out of my sweet slumber.

But the main thing that keeps me awake ... not knowing .. about certain things in my life ....

I need sleep.:(

I know this well. My wife is in the Army, and gets, on average, 10 calls a night. She has 30 soldiers that she is in charge of, and I swear, these people can't think for themselves. Every 30 minutes or so the phone will ring. Just as I get back to sleep, it rings again.

Since she's on alert, I can't take the phone off the hook.

Hehe...I find the entire album "Momentary Lapse of Reason" to do the same thing.

My job has me doing one week of days followed by one week of nights. I then go hoem to a family that is on a day shift schedule and have to adjust yet again. I now can sleep anywhere for a few minutes to a couple of hours and go. Even when I was in the Army I never had such a problem with the sleep thing. I guess it isn't a problem, but some people seem to think it is. I just sleep a bit and then go on. No big deal to me.:p

I'm one of those lucky guys that sleep soundly anywhere at the drop of a pin.

Well until I get sick and get any sort of medication.
Like now I'm having a cough and got a prescription for a "heavier" cough syrup with some Morphine content to it.3 hours sleep in 3 days, sure I'm functioning but I'm getting very strange in the head.

I want my normal sleeping ability back, even if I sleep to deply and don't hear smoke detectors going off. :(
