Okay, this'll sound gross to some people, so watch out.

Now, most of you know that I'm a bbw and we come with out own issues. For the last 5 days or so, I've been having one of my own. Now sometimes I get this skin condition in the area under my main roll of skin, right above my mons. I assume it's from chafing of the skin, but it's only been happening over the last year or so, and I've been this large all my life. It gets very red and inflamed and wet...maybe from pus? I don't know. Anyway, it's gross, unslightly, and hurts like hell. Usually I'll get it for a day every now and then, but I dry it off and it goes away. It hasn't been going away this time. It's been going on for about 5 days. I dry it every chance I get and I even put powder on it tonight.

So I'm wondering, have any other large men or women had this problem? Should I see a doctor about it since it's gone on this long? Is there a special medicated powder especially made for something like this?

Thanks to anyone who can send me in any direction.

I'm a big girl. I get this sometimes, esp when it gets warmer. I also get it under my breasts. I finally read a description of it in Cosmo once and they said that it was a yeast issue. It made sense to me and I applied the lotrimin and it cleared right up.

I suspect that is your issue. It stays a bit moist under the rolls, between the thighs and under the boobs. I actually now swipe my deodorant under my breast and under the roll. It's helped a lot. Hope this helps.

The skin under your main roll is red and inflamed and wet? I had that problem before I lost weight. Its called gald (sp?) in my family. I think its just skin that gets irritated from the friction with other skin. What I did was use a little sponge or rag to apply cornstarch to the affected area. Thats the home remedy I was told to use and used. Don't know if there is a medicine or medicated powder though.

I've had heat rash and irritation if I don't wear a bra (or an ill-fitting one) for a long period of time, but not to the degree you're describing. I think this warrants a visit to the doctor, CG. It could be, or become, an infection or something you really don't want to take a chance with. If nothing else, they should be able to give you something to alleviate the pain and help it heal.

It's totally a heat thing. I've got a mild version of it it now. Corderzone is supposed to work, but you know it and I know it that doctors don't know shit.

I would get it checked out so that you can treat it right. If you treat it with the wrong stuff it might make it worse in the long run.

Summers Eve or Medicated Gold Bond. Hoping I'm reading this right...

After you shower, towel dry then get a blow dryer and pull up the fatty skin to dry even better. Then put the powder on. The wetness is coming from sweating, and the skin rubbing back and forth, which can turn into that puss junk which can lead to a more serious infection.

Good luck, chicky :)

Edit: May sound funny with the hair dryer but it sure as hell works!

While it's always a great idea to see a doctor, applying hydrocortisone and/or lotrimin might not help but it's not going to hurt. I have this myself and I also work in childcare and have seen infants with red, irritated folds and creases from staying to moist. In cases of baby bottom rashes, if you ever have one that just doesn't seem to go away with regular rash ointments, lotirmin is the way to go because it's usually yeast.

So, whether you go to the doctor or not, it won't hurt and may help to go ahead and start treating with lotrimin. I think the powders are good to help prevent future irritations. Just my experience and opinion.

I had shoulder surgery back in the fall and was unable to wear a bra for quite some time - I developed a similar problem under my left breast. It was a pretty severe form of heat rash, caused by moisture getting trapped and heating up to a point where it irritated my skin. It blistered and got pretty icky. Cortisone cream cleared it up in about two days. It also helped to dry extra well after showers, and to use a dusting of powder to make sure it stayed dry afterwards.

As for why it developed now... have you changed the type of underwear you wear? If you're wearing a low-rise type of panty (or none at all), you might want to consider a style that comes up higher on your abdomen...a cotton fabric would keep the skin from resting/rubbing on itself, and still allow it to breathe enough to prevent future rashes or infections.

Fat slut. If you lost some weight you wouldnt have these problems.

Well, maybe you didn't address me, but I'm addressing you, um asshole, which I must say I don't call many people that on Lit.

I haven't commented to any of your posts and from what I can see, you're not getting many come-backs on other threads except for negative ones, if any at all. I wonder if you know how many people have you on ignore because I could probably send you the list. But nah, I'm gonna waste my time, but just wanted to tell you how obvious it is how much you hate yourself even though you come off hating others. You show that you have no life, and must be completely bored out of your mind because all you do is insult others: another sign of insecurity and hated towards yourself. Hmm, and I thought I was bored. <grins>

So, College_geek has an over-weight problem, which sounds like it's not something she caused herself. For most people, it's not. You, on the other hand have more of a problem. I feel sorry for you, dude (ette) Seek help before it's too late. I'd hate to hear that you took a shotgun and blew off your head because of these issues. Am I lying? Of course, I am.

Now, do us all a favor. Go outside and play, and stay away from mama's keyboard.

And I thought "Brinnie" was bad

this is totally uncalled for, douche bag.

CG has given some excellent advice, without reservation, to anyone who's asked. if you don't want to answer her question then just ignore the thread.

i think we all need to respect one another a little more... and judge a little less.

Not to worry, her comments have been removed.

Zinc ointment..the kind you use on baby's bums...works too!

My grandmother has had this issue off and on for the past few years. Her doc gave her a prescription for some cream that works really well for her, but I don't know the name of it.

It doesn't really sound like a fungal infection, though I suppose it could be. My experience with that is limited to diaper rashes, and those tend to look red with little red dots (satellite lesions?). In fact I'm treating my 19-month old for one right now. On her belly, of all places.

So, like red_jane_doe said, I suppose you could try hydrocortisone or an anti-fungal while you're waiting for an official diagnosis. While it might not help all that much, it probably won't hurt.

I wear the brief style (as unsexy as they might be) since they work the best for me. This actually a good point you bring up because a lot of mine is stretched out and old (being a college student is so much fun), so I should throw them all out and start anew. That should at least help it somewhat and help it from coming back. Thanks Lynx. :rose:

I was thinking about some type of ointment, but I wasn't sure since I thought it would just create more moisture there, but since many have mentioned it, I might give it a try. I should probably buy some Goldbond powder too, since it's handy to have anyway.

Thank you all for such speedy service. :rose: :)

:( I'm used to it by now. I've had my fair share or trolls, just not in a while. Still, thank you EJ and Saldne. :rose:

Anytime, sweetie ;)

And a big thanks to LadyG for removing the comment.

Thanks for asking this question, I get this sometimes myself. I find the powder usually works. Also, I'd like to second the hair dryer suggestion. I do this all the time myself, after I get out of the shower I put the hair dryer on the "cold" setting and dry under my breasts and between my legs - it also helps to avoid yeast infections and other nasties.

Hope it clears up soon!

CG, I used to have the same problems and with the summer coming the heat won't help. When I was in the hospital and couldn't move lots the problem became worse. I was given a prescription for Nizoral shampoo. It sounds like it is a yeast issue so if you can get some lotrimor the like give it a shot. I know it seems odd to add an ointment - our minds say go with a powder to dry it. But you have to treat the yeast first.

The Nizoral shampoo is something you could use 2 to 3 days a week - you lather it over the head and body, leave on for a few minutes then rinse.

Good luck. :rose:

It could possibly be caused by the same fungus that causes athlete's foot and jock itch... The excess moisture (which creates an ideal environment for fungus to grow) may be the culprit.

You just have to do your very best to keep the area as dry as possible... Powder (preferably one with corn starch in it) is definitely your best friend... I haven't had athlete's foot or jock itch since I started using it several times daily.
