Sizzling Sensations

Jill listened to all the different styles for a minute and then her fingers caressed the keys as she let her fingers glue the group together. She knew this could work as the girls got a feel of what she was doing. She would never distroy their styles but the piano could be the glue that would get them on the same wave length. She never minded being the glue and not the star. She just loved music at any level and the piano was her true love. She found herself keeping the base with her left hand but her right hand was floating around each girls style in turn. It sounded good and she closed her eyes to get the full impact of what they were creating.

So caught in the music was she that Lolita didn't even register that Jill had entered with the piano until the shout from Dani's direction brought her out of her fantasy. She turned noting Dani's expression and saw her guitar's strings had snapped. "Not good." she commented absentmindly and stopped from playing to let her guitar rest against her. "You okay?" she asked coming up to Dani.

"Ugh.... yeah.. Damn thing caught me good. Think I'd be used to that by now." Dani frowned, taking the finger from her mouth to check it over, a few drops of blood coming to it. "Ohhh, dammit. Know how hard it is for me to play with a bandaid in the way?"
She set her bass aside, going to get her bag. "I know I got a few in here... Dunno about strings, though. I just bought those ones, figured they'd last awhile. Guess that's what I get for thinkin'." She smirked, opening a small strip and wrapping it around her finger.

"I might have a string." Dallas tossed her bag in Dani's general direction. "Front zipper pocket. I dunno if I'll have the right ones, but you can check." Looking over to Jill, she nodded her head upwards, acknowledging the girl who had joined them. She needed some... plug to that piano, but what the gal had done had gelled them all together nicely. Maybe this one would be interested in learning Xylo or something sometime. later.

Having seen Dani break out a cig earlier, Dallas now followed suit. She almost reached for the **other** smokie, but decided against that just yet. A few quick puffs and the thing was gone, Dallas began pecking about on the drums for no reason - just being annoying mostly, and listening to the crappy sound of the toms as she hit against them.
"Damn I hope you gotta better set than this. Or have mine shipped in, one." She rolled her eyes and tossed her sticks in the corner, eyeing Gary and wondering what they'd do next. Then her eyes wandered to Dante, who was talking to the Jane chick in the hallway. She wondered what was up with that - the girl didn't look too happy right now. But Dante was sexy as ever. She watched, amused.

Lolita sighed in relief at least she'd didn't cut the damn thing off... Shifting away from Dani, Lolita went to take a seat just chilling in a corner some place. Her one visible eye trained on the hallway where she could see a little something going on with that Jane chick. She most likely didn't make the cut. Oh well that's the way the cookie crumbles and all that jazz.

Pulling out another cig she lit it and took a few quick puffs before closing her thumb and forefinger upon the tip dowsing the cig, she'd use it later if it wasn't stale by then. "As fun as all this is, I'm hungry. And being the big girl that I am food comes before play... or I can't peform a fuckin thing." She went moderately silent after that eyeing those in close proximity. She spoke her piece now it was time to act, as she stood to her feet and pulled out some money from the inside of her bra. "So we ordering in or going out?"

"I'm sorry, we just don't have need for another drummer at this time. Gary's call not mine, but of course I have to be the one to tell you." He sighed and shook his head. He leaned in close lowering his voice to Jane. "Listen, I'm putting together a group for a record i'll be cutting under my own label soon. Give me a call, i could use a good drummer." He nodded and showed her out. He walked back into the room and looked around running his hand over his hair. "Alright Gary, I gave Jane hte news, she didn't seem too happy about it, but it's taken care of." He shrugged. "Jane won't be playing with us anymore. Gary decided five was probably enough." He explained to the girls while looking around the room. "Let's see, guitar, bass, drums, vocals, and keyboard." He counted off to himself. "Looks like we've got ourselves a full band then." He shrugged glancing at Gary. "What do you want to do now? If you'll excuse me I'm going to make sure all the equipment in the recording booth is properly setup." He gave the ladies a smile as he excused himself.

Dante went to the booth and doublechecked everything, his tech people knew their game and everything looked good, he ran the recording for half a second jsut to make sure everything was working right, happy at the results. He moved back into the main room and stuck his head in to look at everyone "The studio is completely setup. We've got all the gear we're gonna need for recording in there and everything's been prepared if you guys are ready to lose these crappy practice instraments and see what you'll actually be recording on." He smiled as ducked out of the room again.

Jill watched the girls taking care of Lolita, she looked at her watch and knew she would have to leave. She stood up and walked over to Dante.

"Look, I have to leave, I have a Gig uptown in about an hour. I didn't expect to have to wait so long for everyone"

She turned and looked at the girls.

"See you all tomorrow"

She waved and hurried out the door.

"You have a better amp than this? Oh, yeah, this I gotta see." Dani grinned, pointing to it. "Hey, if that's just a practice rig, can I, ah... bum it? I kinda blew out one of my speakers." She paused, then smacked her head. "Wait, what'm I bitchin' about? I'm part of this thing now- I can practice on this anytime I want.."
She grinned, shrugging. "Sorry. I tend to get... rambling to myself sometimes." She turned her bass to her back, then went to Dante. "Yeah, lemme in! I wanna check all this out!"

Dallas smiled - good. Better drums. Grinning, she smooshed several bucks into Loli's hand, took her blowpop from her and sucked it once, then replaced it in the girl's mouth and said sweetly, "ordering in."
She picked up her stick bag and followed Dante and Dani down the hallway. She didn't have a cell, but figured either Loli did or that they'd find a phone somewhere. She and the urban cowgirl were on the same page on that one - food was a must for all the energy she'd need for an apt performance. And this, though a practice, was one of the first in front of the bosses - so, yeah, it was a performance.

A little curious as to the pianist's early exit - was that sort of thing tolerated on these labels? Dallas had assumed not - she simply raised an eyebrow and sauntered down to the studio. She really wanted a glimpse at that better set - like, now.

"Pizza? I'm in on that." Dani passed a few bucks off to Loli, then grinned to Dante, grabbing the back of his shirt and dragging him into the other room. "Hey guy... you're the one promising us this sneak peek- so make with the peekin' and stop with the sneakin'!," She grinned.

Dante stared confusedly at Jill as she stood up and wandered out. He raised his voice to say something but Gary waved him off so he just shrugged. "Well I guess that's that then." He fumbled backwards as Dani dragged him back inside. He said as he rolled his eyes. Stars. He chuckled at Dani's exuberence. "Yeah you'll have free access to the studio whenever necessary so you don't have to worry about practice equipment. As for food, I'll send one of the interns out for some pizza, don't you ladies worry any about it." He passed them back their money. "You're going to be stars, and that means you all have to start acting like spoiled greedy bastards. Alright, tour, gotcha, sorry just trying to make sure everything was in good order." He led them all back to the studio, throwing open the doors to a cornacopia of musical goodness "Well here it is, ladies, all yours."

He smiled as the girls looked over all the gear. It was top of the line shit and Wehstar had spent a good penny on it. "Think I'll go out back for a smoke." He said quietly, pulling a joint out he had hidden behind his ear, covered by his afro. Dallas looked his way and he tossed her a smile, wiggling the joint towards her before walking out the back door.

OK, so now the first real recording session was going to begin, they're getting hungry so the pizza needs sorting. Ringing through he got the Intern to order pizza, especially instructing for his untampered pizza base. That's all Gary ever had when they got pizza, a base. That way there was no worries about nasty surprises like cheese, or tomatoes or vegetables - you know the kind of perversions these people use to destroy a perfectly good bit of bread.

As people found their way and generally chattered, Gary placed some music sheets just around next to the relevant instruments. Once that was done, he took a vantage point to see what was going on on a step, and took in what was going on.

((Dolly- You try writing something creative at 2 am with a cold pill induced mind. :p ))

"Spoiled greedy bastards, huh? So- you're givin' me the ok to start with it? In that case, I want a giant bowl of only green m&ms, two cases of Monster, and someone to take all that energy out on," Dani said with a laugh, her eyes widening as she saw the amps.
"Dante... I love you." She grinned, running her fingers along the case of one. She glanced up to see him headed outside, then shrugged, looking over to Gary. "So you're the guy in charge of all this, huh?" She smiled. "Suppose I should get to know ya then, if your gonna be my boss." She held out her hand. "Dani Levon. 'Course, you prbably already knew that..."

"Of course I already know that. I'd recognise that face anywhere."

Gary replied to Dani's introduction, taking her hand with a little kiss, just like every good smarmy gentleman should. But by doing that of course, he realised how she had twanged her finger on the guitar. He realised the sweet taste of warm blood on his lips had made its way from her finger. But he quickly snapped out of that - it wasn't something he wanted to be accepting himself let alone others. He released her hand, trying to look cool and unflustered.

"But yes quite right, we have not met. Gary Hayles is happy to meet you, and happy to have you playing bass with attitude. Look I know we haven't spoke directly before, but I have been impressed with your assets. If you ever need anything just let me know, I'm determined to make the sensations an international success."

Candy

Candy took a look at the music, and the songs that they were going to do. She started humming along to the music, and tapping her toes. "This is good Gary, who wrote them?"

(( Lily - I's just pullin yer leg, girl! It made me ROFL, and it's one of those "horrible, horrible" puns one just groans at the fact that it made one laugh at it anyway. Guess I shoulda put a :D in there, too. LOL :rose: Love ya! ))

Dallas sauntered into the room, hoodie back in place, and raised one eyebrow at the set. Running her fingers over a cymbal and taking in all the toms and accessories, "Not bad," was all she said. Silently and trying to hide it, Dallas was quite impressed!! It wasn't often one happened upon a 19-piece set, let alone a matching one, not to mention one of this calliber. She was excited, a little intimidated even, which was all the better.
Hearing Dante announce his smoke break, she looked up just in time to see him produce a joint from behind his ear. Her eyes lit up, and she grinned as Dante smiled, wiggling the thing at her. That was close enough to an invitation in her mind! She simply said, "Me, too!" and grabbed her sheet music from the stand.

She was glad to see that whomever had written her part had the piece of mind to include the score on a grand staff, the melody on a separate staff, and her part below it. No better way to study it, and a drummer must know what the music was like before she'd know how to hit it. Gary had said that her ability as a drummer to also read "real" music was one of the things which had set her apart from the others who'd auditioned. She grinned, tucked the music inside her hoodie, and followed Dante to the secluded "smoke" area. Glad it wasn't just in the open, where fans, paparazzi, and whomever else could find them, Dallas looked over the little courtyard-type area, ecstatic that there were plenty of dark nooks and crannies to hide herself in - she tucked the info away for future reference.
As Dante sat and lit, she held her hand out for her own hit. She didn't even ask for it - she could get used to this spoiled, rich bastard thing. Her attitude fit quite well with it anyway. She pulled out her music and began scanning it.

"Music's not bad. Who wrote it? Looks like it'll jive alright. Not quite as hard as I love, but then, I expected that." She grinned as he handed her the joint, and took a long, greatful hit from it, holding it in as she gave it back to him. Grinning, then blowing the smoke away, she nodded at Dante. "Man! So glad. Just, cool. Ya know?" She laughed, glad she wouldn't be reprimanded for her... habit.

And when Candy asked about the music:

"Oh yes, its new stuff. The production company employs writers. I think two of them worked on the songlist together. They will need tweaking to suit the style of the musicians, hopefully half of them will work. But I'm sure your voice will suit most of them, that's why we picked you."

"My question is, do we get to compose our own music and styles without the help of outsiders like your little company writers?" Lolita asked, sitting off to the side. She plucked at her guitar strings again but set the instrument down and came over to investigate the interesting display of instruments. Whistling she nodded her head. "Nice...its a start."

ooc: sorry had a momentary brain fart. :D

And when Lolita asked about the music gary replied to her also:

"Sure thing. That's how it's supposed to be. The writers come out with their stuff. Some bands stick to that and play it, but the others, the creative ones that actually like music twist it usually out totally from where it started. Not that that matters, its all about marketing and good production quality at the end of the day. It may be art, and if it's good art then fine. Just so long as records sell."

Dani nodded. "I better get my own input to this thing. I don't do bubblegum." She tapped her bass behind her. "Big Boy doesn't take well to any sappy shit bein' played on him. Tried that once- my amp blew out, strings broke every time I changed 'em, and a short in my cord made me get zapped.... All in about 3 hours. Nuh-uh. Ain't doin' that again."
She puffed out a breath to move her hair, then glanced to Gary once more. "Dante said to ask you 'bout this one. Your... dresscode for gigs. Got one?" She held up a warning finger. "You say jumpsuits, and I ~will~ deck you."

"Dresscode?" Lolita perked up seriously then her one eye visble with concern. "I'm not doing jump suits or any of the sort. And dont even think I'm going on stage without my hat. Fuck that..." she warned with a growl and waited for some information on the dress code. Damn but she wanted her own style not some uniformed bubblegum pop BS.

Candy

Candy shook her head. "I agree with both of them, hell no on the jumpsuits. Now if you had something like this in mind, I think that the audience would love it." She did a twirl in her mini skirt and heels. "Even tho I don't think the heels will work to well on stage."

Dante yawned slightly, taking the joint back from Dallas. This shit stimulated his creative flow and really mellowed him out in possibly tense situations like the one back in the studio. But it also made him tired as hell. He took another big hit off it before answering Dallas' question. "The studio has writers who do a lot of your teen pop crap.. basically the stuff fourteen year old girls eat up. They returned a song list that was about half that and half decent. Me and one of the guys here just went through the teen pop crap and made changes where necessary to make the music more in-synch with what I felt this band should be about." He shrugged.
"Don't worry about this either." He said wiggling the joint as he handed it back to her. "Hell, Candy's exboyfriend's band used to come out here and ride the white horse if you know what I mean." Dante leaned back, putting his hands behind his head and closing his eyes. "I sure hope this all comes together well and Gary doesn't let his cock do all the thinking. In any case the money should be good." He smiled.

Gary's mind tried to stay on business matters, but right now that was difficult, what with that brief taste of Dani's blood mixed in with Lolita's bubblegum antics, Limo memories still fresh. Then Candy gave a little twirl, that little denim mini clinging to her ass and mmmm, those legs as he involuntarily licked his lips to another reminder that vampiristic tendencies are not a good idea. Snap the fuck out of it, Gary's conscience gave him a bollocking.

"Hee. pink jumpsuits, why didn't I think of that earlier! Oh no, we could have you colour co-ordinated like teletubbies, a yellow one, a red one, blue one, green one. You get to pick first Lolita, what do you think - yellow for you?"

"No seriously, like Candy said, clothes like the audience would love. Look you all know what you like, with your music and everything else. I know that, each and every one of you has lived this dream your whole adult lives, and more. You all have strong opinions about stuff, we just gotta mould it together. Now, for the first time now and probably ever, you got the backing of a big company with all that clout on your side. Just work on the songs, make them your own, and your talents will come through, and complement each other. So wear what you like on performance days, the Paparazzi know what you're wearing today anyway so some of your style is already set for the bovine population. Now as we would have said when negotiating contracts, we got the huge house on the edge of town for you to stay in during the formation stages. There will be stylists available to help you out, if you like, in filling your walk in wardrobes in your rooms. These stylists know sex sells, and about keeping relevant public images and that, but they're there to help. Just like the rest of the support staff, here to help keep your creativity high, and let the music and performances in your bones seep out to the surface."
