Could any of the experienced authors provide me with feedback on the following issue please:
I have published my first erotic story called "Sixty Minutes" under the category Loving Wives, and within 24 hours have gotten (a) almost 20000 views (b) 10 comments, from which 6 are rather vicious/offensive (c) 8 favourited. The rating of the story, though not fantastic, has improved from 2.7 to just over 3 during the same time.

The vicious ones seem to be outraged at the story line, irrespective of the fact that I make it a point that this is a work of fiction, that simply because the wife was drunk it automatically means that she was raped. Perhaps I was not clear enough in the story. Or maybe this is the level of readers of Literotica.

Although I had geared myself for criticism, I must admit to being taken aback by the vicious comments (of course, from anonymous readers). I know I can delete them, but at the same time I am not sure whether that is ethical, since this there is acceptance of freedom of expression.

Should I edit the story to make consensuality more obvious (although there are various instances where the wife indicates her willingness), or should I just tag it as Non-Consensual (which I feel it is not). The other more drastic alternative that I can think of is to withdraw the story...

Any non-vicious feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Go read comments on stories similar to yours. Loving Wives is the shark pit of Lit. You can't satisfy anyone, anytime, most of the time. You have several faction that all want something different and they all love to hate.

By the way, welcome to Lit and I rent shark protection suits for the time period that it takes for your skin to toughen up. ;)

kinkierman, TX has summed it up well. The chasm between writers who (fictionally) want to write a loving sex story where a wife cheats with hubby's support and the draconian 'kill the bitch' is irreconcilable. If you write in LW, I suggest you take up TX's offer of shark protection.

LW is one of those places you gotta love or get the hell outta Dodge. Its a gladiator arena. The stories that do well there have all the excitement of a date with Alice the Brady Bunch housekeeper.

I consider it a win if I get over 3 in a Loving Wives story.

As others have said already it's a tough crowd. There are lots of insecure guys among LW readers who react strongly to any hind of cuckoldry and will mark your story down for it, even if it's well written. On the other hand you'll find plenty of short and poorly constructed stories that has gotten high marks for no other reason than telling how a man takes bloody revenge on a cheating wife.

Keeping in mind that your story is about a voyeur/cuckold husband the current rating is a testament to your skills as a writer. Considering your direct approach to the subject there is no doubt that you have been massively "1-bombed" by the btb-crowd, so the fact that you still maintain a ratio above 3 means that you must have gotten many 5's as well.
