If single-payer / national health care is so good, shouldn't single-payer / national law coverage be pushed for as well?

While we can debate whether medical care is a right, I am pretty sure that US citizens have a right to an attorney when being prosecuted by the "state"... shouldn't that right extend to all aspects of the law? Shouldn't everyone be able to have the attorney of their choice care for them regardless of their income level?

Talk amongst yourselves....

A man can take a little relativism without getting drunk, but if you hold his mouth open and pour in a quart, he's going to get sick on it.

Here, legal aid does not give you the right to an attorney of your choice.
It gives you access to an attorney - the first one off the rank.
Sometimes, you can apply for legal aid through your attorney of choice, but it's not a given that you will be accepted.
