I have the Sims, Sims Livin' Large, Sims House Party and Sims Hot Date, but I'm having problems with Sims Hot Date. It's just not working on my computer. Can someone please help me? Everytime I try to do something, it dumps me back on my desktop and I did everything right in installing it. :(

Sims.

I purchased 2 of them and 2 of them were given to me for Christmas gifts from friends. And yes, they did buy them. lol They told me they did. I wouldn't even be able to install them if I didn't have the codes that come with them when you buy em. They're all installed, they just won't work. I need some help with them, cause Hot Date isn't working. :(

OK..

have you gone to http://www.thesims.com and checked there?

I don't have Hot Date that I purchased legally, I downloaded it from the net, and I have no problems.

I'll see if I can find any information.. I'll either post it here or pm you.

ok.. couple of questions.. are you using windows 2000?
and you do have the CD in the drive when trying to play, right?

ok, you might find your answer here

go to http://www.thesims.com

upper row of links.. there is a HELP button.. click on it.. it explains some things that might be wrong.. and it gives you info on how you can contact someone at the sims for help.

good luck

I found this..

maybe this will help

The game crashes and dumps me out to my desktop. What can I do?

I get an error message: “Invalid page fault in module unknown” or “Invalid page fault in module Sims.exe.” What now?

What do I do if my computer locks up on the loading screen or in the game?

End any background tasks in order for the game to run stably:
-Hold [Ctrl] and [Alt] and then tap the [Delete] key. This should bring up the "Close Programs" window.
-Highlight an unnecessary application and press "End Task".
-Repeat this procedure to close any other programs (excluding "Explorer" and "Systray")

Disable any anti-virus and/or crash guard software you have running.
Lower the video hardware acceleration to “basic”:
- Right-click "My Computer" and select "Properties"
- Pick the "Performance" tab
- Choose "Graphics"
- Lower “hardware acceleration” to basic.
Try selecting "game compatible device" or "use any available device" from the multimedia control panel.
Make sure that your desktop is set to at least 800x600, 16-bit high color and that you are using the latest driver for your sound and video cards. If your drivers are out of date or lack DirectX 7 support, there is a workaround:
- You'll need to modify the shortcut to The Sims. Browse to the Program Files\Maxis\The Sims directory (or whatever directory you've installed the game to), right click on Sims.EXE and drag it to your desktop, and select "Create Shortcut(s) Here".
- Once you have the shortcut on your desktop, right-click on it and select Properties.
- In the ‘Target’ field it should say:
"C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\Sims.exe" (or the path to whichever folder it’s installed to).
- Add the following to the end of the “Target” line: “-nodx6 -skip_verify -skip_intro -w”
If the game still crashes, you may be having sound problems. As a last resort, add “ -nosound” to the desktop shortcut as well.

Thanks.

Thanks for helping me out. Your so nice to me. Maybe I could return the favor some day.:p

Did that help? Hope so..

Oh and returning the favor.. Cool.. You can have my first born child.

He's 15 and employed.. not alot of trouble really :D

I am not a Sims person, I don't even know what sort of game it is ....

Can I go to a certain site and down load it for free, or would I have to buy the soft ware.

Just curious. :)

I bought all the others.. but I downloaded Hot Date from Kazaa.. I plan on buying it in the next month or so..

My conscience doesn't allow me to enjoy it much considering the way I got it.

but dammit.. i was desperate.. :D

Go out and buy The Sims (it's the first in a series of games). It's not real expensive (more than likely under $20). It's addicting but not as addicting as Lit ;)
