Similar threads, or Algorithms are stupid

At the bottom of each thread, Lit provides us with a selection of 5 "similar threads." I assume that this list is generated by some sort of algorithm, just as Netflix and Amazon produce lists of books or movies they think I would like. I actually find these lists a bit reassuring, as they tend to provide some reassurance that, whatever "intelligence" is involved in producing these lists is totally lacking in insight or understanding.

With that background, I do still find the Lit lists to be amusing as well as bemusing. (Is "bemusing" a word?)

For instance, the Chaotic Coffee Clatch thread has this list of 5 similar threads. Anyone beside the computer that produced this list see the similarity:

So, maybe I'm the only one who finds this amusing.

But I'm going to try one more time.
I post in the "New England Peeps" thread. One "similar" thread is "White guy looking for Black woman."
How is that similar. I mean, its true that if you are a white guy in Vermont, its probably hard to find a black woman. But New England isn't all white. How does the algorithm come up with this stuff?

It's definitely not perfect, but I found it to be super helpful. I was in the show your bum thread and it suggested @Trekka's whoring tips and tricks. How perfect is that?

I just checked out that thread. It offers a recent pic of Odette's ass. So, that was a real treat.
However, it also lists ABC -Movies and TV shows as a similar thread.
And while there have been a number of bums in movies and tv (tho few as attractive as Odette's), I really have a hard time seeing the connection.
