okay, so maybe the guys won't relate to this one so much, but i realized i am not alone while i was reading jade's commercial thread.
mc'donalds commercials...sure.
but that's just the tip of the iceberg for me.
don't get me anywhere local television or the tears just start flowing.
the worst: the price is right. sometimes i can't even wait until they win to cry. all they have to do is bring out the plinko board and it's all over!
most game shows get me.
next:talk shows. i have shed SO many tears watching oprah it boggles my mind. but it's not just her. all of them. and almost any topic will do it.
so i want to know what silly things bring on the tears for y'all.
:)

K, so maybe its not so silly.

But when my baby was born, just humming lullabies. Got me every time. Damn Brahm!!!

Anything designed to hook us in, I fall for: Kleenex, Hallmark, GE, ahhh the warm fuzzies of corporate America.

There was a car commercial that blew my doors off about a month ago. The one with the opera singer singing in the background, and the old lady dying while her daughter holds her hand, then fade to 2 little girls saying goodbye as one rides off in the car with her parents. Instant tearjerker.

The lil' things...that make me cry

~The first time I heart my baby's heart beat in my tummy...
~When I held him in my arms after giving birth...
~When I have to curl up in bed alone, thinking of Phil...
~When my mind reminds me that Ohio is 4 states away and 15 hrs...
~Whenever I see a picture of my son (which btw, is the wallpaper on my desk top)...
~When I watch things like Jerry McGuire or Con Air, etc...

~sigh~

Church hymns. There are so many beautiful hymns, especially those for major holidays like Christmas and Easter. Always have a kleenex in my pocket to wipe my tears before anyone notices.

Most recent in rememberence, the end of first Pokemon movie. When Ash was turned to stone trying to save the Pokemon and Pikachiu tried so hard to change him back by electro shock attack thingying him. All the pokemon started cryin and their tears brought Ash back. I hate watching that, it always makes me cry.

The sound of my husband's voice does it too cause he's always gone and I miss him so much. Even when I'm mad at him.

A guaranteed tearjerker for me is any movie with animals in it cause they usually die or have to leave. And most chick movies. The Truth About Cats and Dogs is my second fave and the African Queen is the best.

Looks like only the ladies have responded to this thread so far. I'll be the first guy to embarass himself!

I cried at the end of Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. Honest to God, when they blew up the Enterprize and Captain Kirk was standing on that rock watching it come down I had to look away.

Pretty pathetic, huh?

my husband's best friend to this day cries when he sees "old yeller".

and i think i saw some tears in my honey's eyes when we watched "the story of us".

sniffle sniffle!!

OH the Snap.com commercial with the lil boy on the bus who is deaf and the other lil boy tries to talk to him then runs home to his computer after school and learns sign language so he can talk to the deaf boy!! oh my god what makes it even worse was i was 7 months pregnant the first time i saw this commercial!! sniffle sniffle!!

yep i ball watching soap operas, When we thought that Lucky died on General Hospital I cried my eyes out. This is bad because i was at Zellers at the time and it was playing on the televisions that was for sale.
The commercial about drunk drivers, where a mother dies and the child yells out that she wants her mommy.
What am i saying, really dumb things start my eyes watering up. My friends laugh about it all the time.
My husband cried his eyes out the the movie with Robin Williams. Where he plays a doctor, who medicine is to make patients laugh. I think its called Doc Adams. But dont quote me on that.

The movie 'The Princess Bride' does not make me cry; however, I get misty-eyed at the credits where they play clips from the movie for each person's name.. And when it fades to black and 'storybook love' comes on for the normal credits, I sob like a baby.

It's a Wonderful Life chokes me up somethin' awful.

The oddest thing that ever made me cry: toast.

No kidding. I looked over at a friend with a plate of toast at breakfast last semester, saw only his hands holding the tray holding the toast, and it reminded me of someone so much I just walked quickly to the bathroom and cried.

Yanno, most of the people who know me think I'm heartless and amazingly thick-skinned.. But the silliest things make me cry.

Christmas season 98, I got choked up and cried over damn near every christmas carol I heard. I don't know why I was so sentimental that particular year, I normally get teary over a few carols every year, but that year it was every one.

The Coke commercial the thread is named after is a tear jerker for me, and movies with sad endings (like "Old Yeller") can bring tears as well.

I'm old enough that admitting to being "sappy" isn't going to undermine my masculinity. There are tons of silly things that make me teary eyed and I'm glad they do. It lets me know I'm not getting bitter in my old age. <G>

I used to cry everytime I watched Little House on the Prarie...There are a few things that make me cry, it just depends on my moods...

After seeing Shadowlands, I had to sheed tears. Simply couldn't help it.

Needless conflict...

makes me sad, but not teary eyed. Actual tears may flow when I read or hear about the sudden death of young people, close in age to my own children. The movie, "Saving Private Ryan" brought tears to my eyes. "The Wall" in Washington D.C. touched me with survivor's guilt and I wept uncontrollably even though I never spent a second caring about the war when it was going on.

But, nothing impacted me as deeply as the "Children"s Memorial" at Yad Vashem in Jeruselum. The memorial is stark in its simplicity and is made up of thousands of burning candles on shelves in a large glass room. All I could think of was that one of those candles could have represented me if my parents had not immigrated to America.

I so glad that I can now freely express my feelings. I was emotionally dead for so many years! Feelings are where its at and tears can be a wonderful way to let your feelings flow free.

When I saw a friend of mine's picture with his daughter. The looks on both their faces is so loving I just lose it.

Smart ass Rosie LOL. Why bring the lovely SS into all of this??

The last silly thing that made me cry was a cartoon that I was watching called Recess. (that's actually one of the newer cartoons that are pretty funny). Anyway, the kid was getting bullied and at the end he stood up to the bully and it made him the hero of the playground. I swear, the slightlest little heart tugger will make me tear up.

I usually don't cry. At least I haven't since I was fifteen. I've never been comfortable enough with someone to do so in their presence a crying while alone seems odd - but I do it occasionally, typically while listening to classical music. I don't know why but if I'm alone, in the dark, listening to 'The Force of Destiny' I almost always end up in tears.

Cartoon movies with animals that die.

Eg:

-Charlotte's Web (okay so the spider dies.. so sue me!)

-Chicken Run (husband had to hold me and the kids sitting in front of us laughed at me.. geez kids today.. no feelings.. ) *sigh*

Books when animals die:

Eg:

-A Day No Pigs Would Die (was that by R. N. Peck?)

-Alas Babylon (I cried when the fish died.. but only b/c of the way the little girl got treated for taking him.. she was being forced into a stereotypical role and I got pissed off).

And Sometimes:

-Baby stuff

-Holding a baby

-Anyone suffering

-Anything that reminds me of my son

-Having PMS combined with any of the above

Hope I am not TOO bad of a sap.

I know that as a man I am supposed to be "dry-eyed," but I inherited my mothers "crying gene."
I can't even watch those stupid "come from behind and win the big game" movies without getting all moist...um, poor choice....I mean weepy. Sure, I'll seal my fate as a wuss, just don't watch TV with me.
Though watching TV isn't what my first priority would be with the women on thius board!!
