Good call Lash. A couple of friends and I were kicking around this very topic last weekend, and none of us could even come up with one big Dem name for Gore's running mate. This one is dead on accurate, and makes the most sense of any I've heard...very logical choice, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Unfortunately, Article II Section I of the US Constitution makes it impossible for me to run this year. However, 2004 is another story.

All right now that's the spirit. Remember folks, you heard it here first:

Out with Bush,
Or Down with Gore,
Lasher's our man,
In 2004

I can see the campaign slogan now:
"Lasher99 in '04 *shrug* He couldn't do worse"

On a side note Lash, we may want to start setting up some "Get to know the Lash" brunches and cocktail receptions. I'd say $100 a plate on the brunches, and $250 a head for the meet & greet receptions...only 3 years and 7 months of fundraising time left until the next Presidential election cycle kicks off you know. Gotta build that warchest....

Havoc

Two Californian Republicans to keep in mind are Tom Campbell and Christopher Cox. Both are pretty popular with the moderates and Cox is a link to the Reagan years (he held some post in the White House). Cox is also the man who exposed the nuclear lab spying scandal.

Hey guys, may a timid li'll virgin (god I hate that term) be so bold as to ask you to please keep your amateur analysis of the presedential race going? It is really interesting to follow the thoughts of ordinary people as opposed to "the experts".
Thanx

Hey Lasher, I understand what your saying about the VP's and I pretty much agree, but I think your selling Campbell and especially Cox short. With their influences in the House of Representatives (where Bush isn't too popular), both can bring in loads more money than anyone we've mentioned yet, and more importantly, both carry much more weight in California than Diane Feinstein does. Campbell could be governor of California tommorrow if he wanted to be, and Cox could have been Speaker of the House if he had of wanted to. Neither of these guys should be compared to Dan Quayle (I still haven't figured that one out yet). And don't give G.W. the south just yet, he's got Texas, Florida, and South Carolina in the bag but I live in Georgia and it's a toss- up here and just everywhere else. Don't forget Al Gore's got a solid southern base too (Tennessee and Arkansas) and G.W. can't afford to make any mistakes. And when you talk about the Midwest, remember Gore (with the union backing and anti- Engler sentinent) is probably going to win the two biggest prizes, Illinois and Michigan.

p.s. Lasher, I think you should skip the fundraising and stick to a grassroots campaign. You could be a bigger, badder, and bolder version of John McCain.

Did any of you notice how bad Janet Reno was shaking when she was at the press conference on litle Elian? I definatle thing that she has Parkinson's Disease. She should go to the doc & get some Sinemet for that!!!

Fro pres, elect Mancow!!! (radio announcer in Chicago)

She definitely has it, I don't like her but I respect her being able to handle it. But about that Elian Gonzalez thing, has anyone noticed that his dad has the same lawyer as Bill Clinton, Greg Craig? Coincidence I think not!

I don;t care if has the same lawyer as Charlie Manson - the kid belongs with his dad, not some wacked out lying remote relatives. Imagine this: an American mother, stepfather, and child sail to Cuba with the aim of moving there because she has a few relatives there. The boat sinks and the child is left alive. The American father wants to bring his child - who is legally an American citizen - back to the US to live with him. But the Cuban relatives and the Cuban government refuses. What would you all think then?

The kid's Cuban, is here by illegal means, and has a father back in his home country. To keep him here for the purpose of making some political point against Cuba is child abuse of the worst kind.

And don't give me the "we can't send a child back into that Communist hellhole" bullshit. That's so 1950's McCarthyism that it isn't even funny.

Sorry, had to vent.

As far as the Presidential race goes, I could give a crap anymore. As conservative as McCain was, he at least had the balls to take unpopular stances. Neither of the candidates scare me, and the both frighten me for various reasons. VP? Who cares? If I had to choose (though I'll probably just write in my vote for Lasher or Pee Wee Herman or someone), I'd have to vote for Gore only because I can't support anyone who believes in criminalizing abortion and forcing school prayer. Why Republicans feel the need for big business to have all the freedoms in the world but want to restrict what I do in my daily life is beyond me. Guess it all comes down to the fact that the tobacco industry and the NRA have a little more cash than me.
