Seems we have an issue going on over sig lines, almost as bad as the war on the adult industry.. I have noticed that a lot of people have been pleasant and shortened their sig lines, still they want to bitch, Erotica cut hers down A lot , the reply was *you call that a short sig line?* so lets vote pro and con on sig lines . You can remain nameless on the polls

See Cheys thread for my comment on this. Thanks. :)

Well, you have to understand I never saw Erotica's sig line BEFORE she cut it down. As it is now, she'd be crucified on the GB, the land that I come from.

Thats why I stay here in the playground with the playground family, I went one time since I first started on lit . Its not a big issue like it is being made out to be, you don't want to see sig lines then turn them off, why infringe on my rights, my freedom of choice? I can understand on health issues and like Debbie said she turned it off. Simple ? yes, but then you have people who just want to bitch, it was never a race on who could out do the other, it was our way of decorating *our space* like our homes or our bedrooms. Thats all I have to say on this , I do not feel like having a debate with anyone. So if anyones toes was stepped on I will step lightly but I will not cave in all the way

One really fantastic feature that can be used here when you post?

Especially if you want to post on the GB? (The GB has many good points - ask me and I will point them out for you.)

Don't tick "Show Signature: include your profile signature. Only registered users may have signature" when you post.

I hope you are joking. Just in case you aren't.

Type your msge -

Then you get "Automatically parse URLs: automatically adds and around internet addresses.
Show Signature: include your profile signature. Only registered users may have signatures.
Save a copy: Also save a copy in the 'Sent Items' folder.
Request Read Receipt: Allows you to check whether your message has been read by the recipient."

Read and tick or don't tick.

Thanks Debbie I am sure there are a lot of newbies that will find this useful too:D

In commonwealth countries like the U.K, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc., they say "tick" where Americans would say "check" as in "check mark."

I worked for a Commonwealth government once and a fellow American sent me a note that said "tick" your answer. I fell out of my chair laughing because he'd drawn little bugs (ticks) instead of the boxes to "check."

* * * *

As to the issue at hand, I agree that sig lines are for decorating personal space (nicely put) and are a place to show individuality. As far as I'm concerned, the sig-line snobs ALWAYS have the ability to Turn Off sig lines. No one is forcing them to view them. It just seems that some people are simply not happy unless they're complaining about others, passing judgment, and/or trying to make everyone conform to their little idea of litcyberdom.

What a surprise. hehe

Did I mention that I was thanked by a Playground person for starting that thread? Yeah, I think I did mention it. I guess that means you've had your own internal battle at the Playground over sig lines, which came as a shock to me. I really thought that ALL of you over here loved those long ass blinking things. I was pleasantly surprised that I was wrong.

Funny the poll says your wrong, and the playground doesn't have a problem just people with a control issue. Gee wonder who that could be? Only one name comes to mind from the playground so maybe he should go play with you guys on the general board. You have a nice day hun.

OLD NEWS

That was yesterday, move on cause the poll shows what the Playground wants and that is what matters not just one voice, its called the voting system and they stated it.

The poll says I'm wrong? Where? I don't see the option listed for just having a few plain lines of text as a sig line. The one that is winning is actually the closest to that. Besides, any GOOD poll would have "other" as an option.

And it wasn't a "he" that PM'd me. I don't know the people on the Playground so I have no idea what this woman's history is here as far as sig line battles (control on YOUR part, nothing to do with me, I might add. :) )

control???!!

Ouch.. I hate that word!

Just fyi... I grow bored of all of the flashy bits in sig lines, but I also know that I can simply scroll past it.
If that's what gets you off, then so be it.

~kym~ sig line this :nana:

You hate control, kym? :p

So do I! ROTFL!

I posted on the subject earlier this month at another thread. I can see both sides, but negative comments only seem to breed contempt. Offering options regarding the sig line issue seems to be the best way to approach it without offending any single person. There are MANY lengthy sig lines on the playground.

https://forum.literotica.com/showthread.php?threadid=258252

As far as scrolling goes, rolling the wheel on the mouse 3 or 4 times to get through a single sig line seems a bit much. If 50% of our time at Lit is spent scrolling through sig lines to find the next post, you might say that one person's right to be creative can infringe on another person's right to enjoy their time spent at Lit.

No matter what your personal preference regarding sig lines might be, being considerate of others can go a long way in helping us Play nicely. (Sorry, I couldn't resist that one) ;)

Most people don't even know that I have a sig line, I only drop it into a post on occasion. Heck, I'd get tired of looking at it myself if I had it in every post.

I think sig lines is a personal thing and I like changing mine every once in a while. If nobody likes it tough....my choice and I do say that with a smile...:D

I had a hard time answering the poll myself. The person that started this thread is fairly new to Lit though, so she may not have been familiar with the concept of having a box marked "other" that allows people to express their view in a post if it isn't reflected in the original choices offered in the poll.

I have no problem with a reasonable amount of text and a link to someone's personal stories or poetry at Lit. ;)

I dont mind sig lines, but the flashing stuff does bother me at times. EW I for one appreciate that your shortened your sig line and would like to thank you for it. I like the stuff you left, I also have links and sayings in mine. I also agree that the sig lines are like showing a bit about you and if you dont want to read them then turn them off. But I also noticed that some of the people who said they have turned off sig lines have sig lines on their posts, hmmm, makes ya wonder.

My two cents worth:
I voted for just the name although a couple of lines of a quote or a small picture are not that bad either. I have seen posters here many times say, "just turn your siglines off". I have a problem with that. It reminds me of the I'm gonna do what the fuck I want to do regardless of how it may affect someone else attitude that so many in this world have today. They want to grab on to their rights and tend to forget a right is not really a right of your own if it infringes on another's rights. I feel I have a right to be able to take part in a discussion on a forum in a timely manner, but when I encounter a thread where posters have long siglines, it takes forever for a page to download. This is common to many people that are still on dialup. My girlfriend, who does run cable can't get on certain pages at all because of the siglines. They can cause browser errors, so we avoid those threads where the known siglines are a problem. Now, back to turning siglines off. There are a few people who change their siglines from time to time and I enjoy reading those and to a degree anticipate the changes, just to see what they'll come up with next. Why should someone have to turn off their siglines and block entirely what CAN be an enjoyable part of their experiences here at LiT? You see, it's not only about a control issue here. Long siglines can and do affect the browsing experience for many here. Rather than point fingers at control freaks, take the time to consider that your long sigline does impact others and not always in a courteous manner .... especially when all a sigline is doing is repeating itself. In a nutshell...don't mind me, I'll wait forever for your repetitive sigline to download just so that I may look at new information contained in a post, which were it not for the siglines I could read in a timely fashion.
