Showing published but not published

Thank you for your patience with what might be a silly question but I have three stories that are tagged "published" in My Stories but are all still in the "pending" group and not available in the stories list to be read. Is this a bug or just a feature I haven't heard of?

Just heads up that now that I’m following several authors I’ve noticed that sometimes alerts go out for new publications before they show up on your works page. So your followers may be able to see your new stuff for a little while (minutes/hours) before everyone else can.

Typically when a new chapter is published I like to go look at the summaries for the previous entry and I catch the discrepancy.
