Let's be perfectly clear!
Oh shit, oh dear!

GIL da man... I've been using your line more often than you have on here lately... I've missed you

Honesty is important. If there are things you don't want to share, then don't. Omission is far better than lying. If there's any chance I might make a friend out of somebody out there, I want to be honest with them.

In fact, in some ways I'm more open and honest on this bulletin board than I am in real life. This is my chance to share things I wouldn't normally discuss at all. I can talk about what I really think and feel without worrying about rejection or mockery.

About appearance, if someone doesn't want to talk to me because they don't like how I look, then they're hardly worth my time, right? So, yes, I'm usually completely honest.

Didn't we make a bet and now you lost and owe me?
hey, i thought i said You couldn't say that...NOT me...but, what exactly do I owe you? can't remember how high the stakes are...besides you just told me to get dressed...make up your mind!
You owe me a suck-up email. Either erotic, super friendly or one with pics of you.

Well, Muffer

I can say I've always been honest with anyone who's wanted 'vital statistics' on me. I figure if they don't like the fact I'm short, fat or whatever - they don't have to correspond with me. Besides, I'm one helluva catch and it's their loss if they can't get past my looks and see me for who I am - dammit!! I say 'IT'S THEIR LOSS!!' Okay, temper tantrum over - lol.

Yes ...

Most important criteria is being able to present a decent email. If the person can't put a string of words together into a full sentence, or uses a lot of "R" and "U" abbreviations instead of words, I'm turned off. I stay away from chat rooms and don't want chat lingo in my emails.

Then comes personality. Do I WANT to talk to you? Can you talk about anything BESIDES sex? Do you seem to have a brain in your head?

Looks are far down the list after "smarts" and personality.

As for honesty, I don't want to be lied to and I don't lie to others.

As a frequent user of chat rooms (here at Lit), I can see why you and many others choose to stay away. It's not all doom and gloom though - I've had a lot of fun so many times in the past, although it has to be said that some of the names, profiles and things that are 'said' can be less than appealing. I guess on the BB there is a lot more scope to give a reasoned response (as well as check for typos!), and there isn't any need for all of the abbreviations and lingo which are part and parcel of chat.

As for honesty, I think it's always the best policy. Visiting the BB certainly gives me more of a chance to extend my online dialogue with others beyond a mass of 'hellos' and 'goodbyes'. One of the things about this form of communication is that a lot of the 'criteria' we use to judge people are removed. I tend not to ask people for personal information, as I'm here to pass the day, browse through what the world has to say, and add my own little comments from time to time. I prefer a meeting of minds; but ultimately we all end up forming pictures of what others might look like. At The Lounge (Lit. chat) I frequently point out typos and poor grammar in people's profiles (in a helpful way). It's one thing to (try to) continuously type accurately when contributing to the chat, it's quite another when you see people with the same mistakes week in and week out on their profiles, and they seem to have no idea how bad that looks. I guess I pass judgment on 'smarts' and personality above physical looks too ...

The moral(s) of the story [?]:
You can be the right type here if you type right.
You have the right to type what you want, but may be type-cast by it.
There will always be cynics who don't believe 'the type'.
Typ[e]ically, not all of this cynicism will be misplaced.

yes of course be yourself Muff ... that goes without saying ....

looks aren't the most important criteria i look for in an online friend ...

... and don't let it be only about sex ... cause personally that would be a turn off for me ...

and also ummmmmm .... try not to appear too desperate ... i have made that mistake before .... sometimes you just have to hold back a wee bit ... lol

I don't hang around the chat boards anymore because it made no sense to me.I got bored. Glad that I found Literotica and all you GREAT folks. Thanks for letting me in on the fun.
