over recent years the United States has been asked to help the world out and every time we do we get Slapped by other countries so should we get out or stay and let the rest of the world handle their own problems

No. Backing out of the UN will tell the international community that we really don't care about what they think.

We may not always agree with the UN, but I don't think we want to send them that message; everybody needs friends.

Were they ever really in the UN? They just tolerate it.

The only reason Bush and his henchmen don't throw everything thet've got at Iraq is because there are - thank God - a few powerful people he respects with some sense.

If the US moves without UN saction then there's no world order except the all-powerful US and who wants that?

Actually, if the U.S. moves on Iraq without UN sanction, it will still be doing so with any number of allies, including a number of Western European countries.
The U.N. is a joke. One committee that examines human rights issues includes a number of countries where there are no human rights, where torture and abuse of political prisoners is routine.

Which "Western European" countries apart from Britain? None have been named - or did I miss something?

A classic example....

The upcoming war has shown the UN to be a toothless lion, laughed at by most of the tyrants out there, and used to delay reaction, aiding the enemy in building up their forces. This will result in hundreds, if not thousands, of civilians being killed when Sodamn Insane relocates them to military targets. The axis of weasels, France/Germany/Russia, forget the thousands of Americans that died to liberate them from oppression, and I for one will never forget this ungrateful display by those pathetic bastards.
Relocate the UN to Brussels, free up the property to make revenue, instead of wasting resources on the world welfare forum the UN has become. The speed of travel and communications has eliminated the need for those parasites to exist so far from the socialist realities they call home.
See Ya, wouldn't wanta be ya, and I trust we will not go to their aid in the future when the next tyrant enslaves them.

From what I have read, and this comes mostly from main stream wire sources (meaning spin it however you want as far as reliability goes) its primarily Germany and France who are kicking up their heels. Most of the other NATO countries and the prospective NATO countries support the U.S. action.

I understand that the current Iraqi government owes significant sums to Germany and France. I conjecture that this has influenced their postion in this matter.

The sad part is that the Franco-German plan for handling Iraq might have stood a chance if they had the cojones to submit it in 1991 instead of waiting until this point.

All of western Europe not just England
the USA has always supported England as England supports the United States

Only Britain.
Every other country will only act with a UN mandate.

The UN is under pressure, sure, but that's only because it isn't healthy to have one superpower who acts solely for their own interests. It is a global community, after all.

It's about fawking time that we made that clear to them because they're just not getting the message that this is a post-1776 world and that they are no longer the "masters" of the world nor the paragons of virtue and righteousness.

When the UN is more about free-thinking peoples and less about normalizing the concept of tyranny then I'll begin to give a flying fuck as to what the world community thinks.

It's why most of us left and came here you fawking dolts!

France has sent it's fleet.
Germany has sent support troops.
Their leaders should be shot for being hypocrits at best, liars in fact, and traitors to the UN (and their long-time friends and allies in the US) at worst...

The world community sure keeps telling us what it thinks of us!

It's what they keep doing that paints them so horribly in America's eyes.

Exactly. We don't need masters anymore. We don't need 19th century superpowers dictating their agenda just like we don't need a 21st century superpower doing the same.

Every country has a voice. Democracy. Heard of it?

Yeah, we let our peasants bugger off to the new world and what became of them? a flock of blood-thirsty savages...
The great experiment has failed.

Yeah. Just most of the members of the UN HAVEN'T!

And if they have heard of it, they've rejected out of hand or adopted it for appearances sake.

We have a Republic.

You're the one's with mob rule, coalition governments and the idea that just a few can derail the government.

No thank you.

Don't like it in the UN either.

More countries in Europe are for us, especially the recently liberated countries. It's you humanitarians who let them wallow in tyranny for so long that want it to continue in Iraq...

They slaughter each other.

What's the big diff?

Why do countries at each other's throats historically,

France-Germany
Pakistan-India
there are more - Ishmael has been patiently presenting them to us in minute detail ;) ...,

get off on telling us NOT TO USE FORCE TO GET OUR WAY!

Hypocrits, hypocrits one and all...

I believe the UN is a joke. It's not as useful to any country as it once was. I don't believe the U.S should back out it though becuase I think it will cause a great deal more hatred around the world than that we already have.

We could cause more?

Why are we responsible for their hatred?

We all choose to hate...

You can also choose to crawl down out of the trees, evolve, and not give "them" reasons to hate you.

This isn't the past where the one with the biggest catapult wins. This is the future, where leadership and diplomacy are the key.

Evolution. Heard of it?
