Should the right of Americans to free expression be repealed?

I'm sure we'll get at least 19 Canadians who think so.

I don't know about repealed, but it could do with clearer wording so that morons don't think it's an excuse to spout hate speech and get away with it.

People do spout hate speech and don't get away with it. I'd rather the government stay clear the fuck away from that process.

Here's some clear wording I was taught as a child:

"Sticks and stones will break my bones
But words will never harm me."

Yes, it's simplistic, but should still be taught to children today, in my opinion.

Words can be used as weapons more dangerous than a gun. History has shown us that time and time again.

That said, we shouldn't be banning expression, and I am illustrating a point about how stupidity can't be prevented... not in speech and not in action.

Clearer wording? Such as?

Something along the lines of "If you walk up to a total strange and start spouting abuse in their face because you're drunk and uneducated, they have the right to shoot you in your face."

Sounds like the 2nd amendment overriding the 1st.

Talk louder. I don't think Rachel is hearing you.

Define hate speech......lately there is a big problem, especially on the 'left', with not understanding hate =/= offensive.

Let the (hunger) games begin.

No shit right.

which process is that ?

The naturally occurring one.

Define "spouting abuse" .....

Define "lately.";)

Good point....

However, I think the latest round of fit throwing and screaming victim for having to hear a different opinion, especially in universities, has become exceptional in just the last few years.

Nobody needed safe spaces to protect them from varying points of view/opinions....in fact that used to be a huge part of going to uni. Hear other views/ideas/opinions and get over your own.

Now they scream rape and get PTSD from seeing imagery supporting a candidate for POTUS that is not Clinton.

Ah, so you're a fan of the old days.

Well once Empress Clinton is elected, that won't be a problem ever again.

Anyone who needs a "safe space" from "offensive" points of view or "hate speech" should go there and STAY there until the "all clear" is given.

The only speech worthy of legal sanction is criminal slander and the "fire-in-a-crowded-theater" analogy designed to maliciously induce panic.
