The idea behind posting the pornstars was that people enjoyed it. And because the porno industry is so very competitive, and becoming more so every day, it's HIGHLY unlikely that one of them is gonna write a website like literotica up for actually doing them a favor- promoting a pornstar.

Maybe you're not very bright or something - that might explain your obtuse attitude on this issue. What I can see is that you have no understanding of copyright law or how the internet actually works.

First, you seem not to care that Laurel has posted repeatedly asking people not to post copyrighted images on on Lit. Of course, you counter by saying that the images you have you've accumulated from all over the net and from newsgroups and they can't possibly be copyrighted. That shows your ignorance right there. Just because someone else has previously infringed on a copyright to does not make it ok for you to do the same. I guarantee you that if you have a picture that you yourself did not take somewhere there is a copyright issue involved.

The various powers that be within the porn industry do make images available for the promotion of their pornstars - and when you see these images the companies that supply them have very specific guidelines for the steps that you must take to legally display those images. Most people who operate little picture post websites either don't realize this or don't care and just grap whatever images they can and build what ever sites they want. It would be awfully damn difficult for the owners of those images to track down each and everyone of these copyright infringers and to take action against them.

Instead, what they do is focus on larger sites, using them as examples to try and put the fear of God into the small time operators with examples of what can happen. Anyone who's familiar with a site called Luciano's Links should be aware of this. The poor guy is constantly pulling is site down while dealing with various cease and desist issues. And these are JUST links to other sites. He doesn't have problems with the actual images he posts on his site because he follows the sponsor's guidelines for displaying those images. Luciano's has issues because he sometimes will post a LINK to a site that does not follow these guidelines, and it's much more beneficial to the owners of the issues to go after someone like him, than to track down some asshole posting a 12 pic page for 3 days.

I would suggest at this point that you do not let your own ignorance inconvenience Laurel and Manu anymore then they already are on this board. They have guidelines in place for displaying images for a very damn good reason. Unless you know the specifics of the ownership of an image you should not be posting it.

But God forbid anyone practice common sense here.
