Ex home for the holiday, has just had brain surgery for an anuerism. Doctors took away her drivers license, she takes anti-seizure drugs, still weak. So she hops in her car and takes our 10 year old for a "ride" while I was not looking. They got back alive, should I let her stay that way for putting him such jeopardy.

If true...

bear in mind she's a very sick woman.

Just keep a close eye on her and a closer one on your kid.

:)

He has been warned he will be grounded for life or longer if he sets foot in a car with her again.

You can only do what you can...

but it's nerve wracking nevertheless.

Best of luck.

That is scary. What did she say when they got back?
Has the medication/operation affected her thinking?
Could you contact her doctor and let him/her know you are concerned?
And you did the right thing by talking to your 10 year old.
Keep your keys in your pocket and good luck!

I would be really pissed off if I was you. But in the end you know the woman and we don't, only you can decided on what's best. I would ring her Doc and let him know, unless Doc's are kept up with the play they don't know if medication is working like they hope it will.

Sending big hugs :)

My husbands sister had an anyurism in the Spring, so I know what the condition of a person with one is like, and all I can do in response to this is go...

Though you have to be pissed enough to do it, you know you can't actually for-real kill her for being so outrageously negligent with regard to your son's life. However, you can call the cops the next time she sticks a toe up against the accelerator of a running car. If you live in a small town (i love small towns for this and a whole host of other reasons) you can alert the cops to watch for her. If you live in a bigger place, you can damn well scream into the phone for a cop the second she drives away.

It's not only your son that she engdangers with a frightening intent to ignore her medical limitations, but herself. Additionally, she's a potential death threat to my son, too, if i happen to live in your town or down the street from you.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this uncomfortable situation. Your son must be confused and hurting in the middle of all this, too. Kids almost always see thier parents as superhuman in many ways. To have to accept that his mother is reduced to such a pitiful physical state could be jarring for him. Extra hugs and quiet talks about the medical realities might be beneficial, though i'm sure you've already begun to attend to his needs in this area. You sound like a very caring father.

Disconnect the coil wire or install a kill switch (keep it a secret, obviously).

"^^" hang in there, it is tough, but making sure cub knows is the best way to deal with it.

You could put the car in storage until she's fit to drive it.

Arrange for someone to "borrow" all 4 tires

I'm sorry she put you thru such worry. And I'm glad the cub is safe and sound. Let him know it's not his fault. He's just a kid, she's the supposed adult.

hugggggggs honey .... love ya

Hey that advice is better than my first reaction which was ....
OFF WITH HER HEAD!!! ;)

The kill switch is a great idea- it is great for security, too. The problem is that so many new cars come with built in security alarms. If I want to use the alarm in my car, I can't have a kill switch.

If you don't mind having a bad relationship with her, call the police and inform them that she's been driving and she has seizures. They'll come and talk to her, at the very least. When someone has seizures while driving, they're deadly because their foot can still depress the accelerator and they're steering all over the place.

Your son is smart. Tell him that it's great for him to see his mother and that you are very happy that he has this chance to spend time with her, but that he'd better not ride with her-- oh, you already did.

Keep your keys on your person at all times.

People who refuse to acknowledge their physical limitations are deadly.

Thanks for the input

her car is now at my brothers and the keys are there too, both sets. Called her doc he hit the roof, physically she is ok, just a little weak, but Doc says absolutly no driving for awhile till meds are proven to work for her. I cooled off she is still alive, thanks.

Just because your IQ deserted you when you married her doesn't mean that you don't have any left now...stupid woman!

Just make cub clean his room, that should keep him busy for the next 10 years! :)

more like 20!
