A few weeks back I was quite excited about a possible promation at my internship. My supervisor was very pleased with my work and he said he was going to talk to the Boss about it. The chances seemed fairly decent. One opening but I only had one other person in line of it.

Then about 2 weeks back I noticed my super do something that I considered to be not ethical. I didn't say anything on the spot, I thought I might have mistaken the situation. So, later I talked to him and sure enough it seemed that I had misunderstood or so I thought.

That weekend, I caught him again.
This time I raised my concern on the spot. Again he had an explanation(excuse) but this time I didn't believe it. It was apprent that he was in the wrong and since he didn't show any intent to correct himself I felt that I should report to someone higher up and I did.

I'm rather happy with my actions however it seems that I put my promotion and possibly my internship on the line. What are the chances that the Boss will believe me over my super? Cause it all is boiling down to his word against mine.

Good for you, moonie. *HUGS*

I wish more people had the intestinal fortitude to do the right thing. Good on you.

Is there no evidence at all of what he did? Look for something on paper or computer that can show the discrepancy between what he said he did and what he actually did.

Also, see if you can gain other allies. I doubt this is the first time he did such a thing. Others might have encountered similar things. If you all come forward, there's a lot more weight given to your observations.

Hang in there, beautiful. You did the good thing. *HUGS*

Welcome to Corporate America.

Whistle blowers do happen to be treated poorly in this country. Yet if there were none then Government, Corporations and others would be getting away with murder.

I'm proud of what you have done but saddened that it had to be reported. I'll be thinking good thoughts for you.

As an asside, about 5 years ago, before Enron, our CEO was cooking the books of our company to boost the stock price for his and the investors benefit. A friend of mine who worked in accounting reported him to the SEC for illegal accounting practices. The CEO is now in jail, my friend is working for another company as the CEO and the Board of Directors decided he was nolonger working in the best interests of the company.

He's doing fine and doesn't regret doing what he did.

There might be evidence but to find it I'd have to get access to his office and his computer. I've tried to talk to a few other interns and regular workers but they aren't talking. I'll keep trying I guess.

*HUGS* back, Rob.

I really didn't want it to be true. I think that is why I believed him the first time. Naive I maybe but I do what I know is right.

Thanks for the story, it gives me hope :)

*HUGS* back, Rob.

Be careful about too much of this. If it seems that you're talking to too many people, management could decide you're a troublemaker and let you go just for that.
Here's the good news: if the Boss is an ethical person, he'll investigate it. And if he investigates it properly, he'll find the proof he needs, or at least enough to dig deeper. Obviously your supervisor didn't cover his tracks that well if you caught him twice. The bad news: if the Boss isn't an ethical person (or is a typical corporate higher up), he'll look the other way and that'll make things tough for you. I'll cross my fingers that the Boss does the right thing. Either way, you know that you did what was right, and no matter what happens with your job, you'll be able to live with your decision. Good luck!

Ah, I hadn't even thought of that part. I'll be careful.
Honestly, I haven't interacted with the Boss enough to know if he is ethical or not. I am hoping he is but then again I used to think well of my super too. I'll wait and see how this turns out.

Thanks SJ *huggles*

Having dealt with unethical bosses before, I fully empathize, Moonie. :rose:

This sounds like a suspense thriller! Keep us posted, will you? :D

That makes me the leading lady in this thriller and my super the big bad villian, LOL.
Nothing new today. I'm dedicating myself to go about work as usual.

Thank you :rose:
I'll be okay either way. I know what I did was right.

update

soooooo......

I might be out of an internship very soon here.
The boss "investigated" and found no need for concern.
There will be a meeting tomorrow about said investigation.

There is still hope then.

If the internship ends, at least you'll be out of an unethical situation.

All to often, if an employee makes money for the boss, they look the other way on a lot of things. You should see what high producing salesman get away with.

I am learning just how unethical people can be.
I'm naive I know but I've always wanted to believe the best about people.
I'll see how the meeting goes. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks Ted

It's good to hope for the best from people.

It's wise not to expect it.

That way, you're rarely disappointed, and sometimes pleasantly surprised.

Hoping good things for you.

Damn, sounds like a set-up. Crooks are everywhere, sadly enough.

I'll keep my fingers crossed as well.

You did the right thing.
Even if you can't eat that, you can still look in the mirror and be proud.
