on trying to avoid getting sick?

How about letting the insurance companies deny coverage if a sick person knowingly took risks which the scientists advised against? Consorting with known violators, or being a violator themselves, voids your coverage for certain diseases.

Why should hospital beds be full of people with a death wish? Where I live the ICU beds are full and my county, which ignores the scientists, is now pawning off its citizens to the hospitals in counties that do adhere to the scientists.

Worse these people are risking OTHER people’s health
How Christian!??
If you don’t want to wear your motorcycle helmet, you are risking your own life
Insurance should not cover your death wish
Same with seatbelts or smoking
But
You want to force someone to bring a life into the world? Then YOU pay for it!?? All of it.., to .. 21 years!!

I'd be fine with it....good luck enforcing that but sure, whatever.

So, some skiyentists type person says 'walk x miles a day' or 'drink x ounces of water a day' and you don't.

Or they say 'don't eat McBurgers', but you do.

How's that gonna play out, eh Einstein?

It will play out exactly like it should. If you self abuse, you aren't covered. It's not that difficult to understand.

More Obamacare redux.

Control of health care gives the moral busybodies the vehicle by which to control our lives.

Moral busybodies never see it being applied to their chosen lifestyle though...

They think they will control government in perpetuity.

Then again, they were convinced that Secretary Clinton was a lock to run the government.

How would it be enforced? People who smoke can still get cancer from other things. Heart disease doesn't come just from types of food.
I'm all for something like this but it will not happen again.

I am all for this... there would be a lot less right wingers.

Or, as we currently see, an artificial crises crackdown creates conservatives
when they see their way of life overturned, loss of employment
and the bankruptcy of their businesses due to
the good intentions of the Left...

As I understand it, the only additional qualifying factor in Obamacare is whether or not you smoke. I think that's fair and also think the government should not be allowed any other latitude in letting additional "pre-existing conditions" be determinants.

This is especially important in the age of Covid. Despite what Wingnut Nation would have us believe, it's not "just a flu" and can leave several permanent conditions in its wake ("silica lung" being the most dangerous...there is no "cure" for this debilitiation of the lungs short of a transplant.

Huh? Now the pandemic is the left's fault?

Now, to answer the first question, no one lives the healthiest lifestyle all the time. We've all got our vices and bad habits. That's already worked into health insurance policies (i.e. smokers pay more) and I'm fine with that.

No, the lefts reaction to the pandemic is the lefts fault.

Not shockingly most leftist absolutely positively REFUSE to acknowledge that "progressive" democrat mayors and governors are responsible for their actions.....because Orange Man BAD!! :)

No it shouldn't...all civilized Countries should be working towards Universal Healthcare, seeing it's citizens as valuable human beings, not just as a labor force.

Here in the USA we are not civilized yet, we allow for millions of people to go without access to healthcare which has the net affect of driving up the cost of healthcare for all those actually paying into the system. It also puts the entire country at risk for collapse...as we are seeing right now with the covid pandemic in the USA.

4% of the worlds population with 20% of the death toll. This is what "American Exceptionalism" means here....sad!

does universal healthcare mean that consolidation ends with the un in charge

WilJ8787 conflates civilization with a totalitarian state seeking equity.

The only thing putting the country at risk for collapse are the lockdown idiots trying to deliberately collapse it, that's the point of all the totalitarian lockdowns for a minor virus.

WilJ....be less retarded.

Universal Healthcare is a good thing. All other "First world" countries besides America has some version of universal healthcare.

The short answer is "no", but I get where you are coming from.

We have to win the hearts and minds of the science deniers so they stop "consorting with known violators, or being a violator themselves"

your contention is

that a science degree

precludes alcoholism?

risky behaviors?

thrills?

;)

are they not just

people?

If you are an American anti-vaxxer - do not visit France with your kids.

You could be arrested, charged with child neglect, have your children taken into care and vaccinated while you go to jail. Keep your beliefs at home!

I don't get the sense that American anti-vaxxers are interested in traveling abroad. Too many "foreigners" - if you catch my drift.
