Should Gary Condom resign?

Okay, kiddies. The guy lied to the cops. He was banging his intern. Fuhgeddabout her being missing.

Should he resign or not?

But somehow I just don't think he will be logging in here to see what we all have to say about it and I seriously doubt he will be doing the right thing.

:(

What's the difference between Condit and Clinton other than Clinton lied under oath? I know there is a missing intern, but no proof that Condit was involved in any way.

To me, none.

But then again, I thought Clinton should have resigned as well. I hated knowing that my kids had that kind of person leading the country and what was a position of such prestige when I was a child was turned into a position of choosing whether you wanted your blow job while you were sitting in the oval office or riding in the limo paid for by the people of this country.

Basically, if you don't want to keep it in your pants, please keep yourself out of a place where my kids are going to hear about your sexual games nightly on the evening news and read about it daily in the newspaper. Let me be the one to teach them about sex.

Because Clinton's refusal to resign forced the right-wing zanies to get even zanier, and inevitably cost several "impeachment managers" their seats.

Plus, Condit's resignation will pave the way for a more liberal Democratic candidate in that district.

I don't think he should resign for having an affair. If every congressman having affairs resigned, who'd make laws?

So true. ;)

I just hate the lies and games that go along with both parties. Can't we just keep the personal lives under wraps and do the jobs we pay them to do.

Let them all get divorced and play the field. Then I would not care.

Amen and Hallelujah. Both parties spend inordinate amounts of time digging into each other's personal lives - time they SHOULD spend writing legislation to improve our quality of life. I'm so sick of the Washington soap opera. Let's get back to running the country, for crying out loud.

The presidency was worth a few "impeachment managers" :p

I wouldn't worry about winning the House back. The big population areas in the blue states aren't going to help in the red states. Or in the red part of the blue states for that matter.

No kidding. We have General Hospital and One Life To Live and so many others we can tune into for the lies, sex, scandals, and instant replays. We don't need the people in charge of making the rules that keep us all playing the game the right way sneaking into the scandal headlines.

I am a republican for the most part, but I can tell ya we have had our fair share of scandals too.

Put them all behind us and get back to your desks on the hill and do what we sent you there to do.

I vaguely recall another board member who was obsessed with the blue and red states.

Silly girl. I've made many posts about blue and red states in the past. Maybe if AJ comes back you can get us both in chat. Would that ease your mind?

Oh, now we are going back to the "it's all about sex" bullshit.

Clinton lied under oath. That's perjury. Perjury about sex is the same as perjury about anything else. Then the SOB wagged his finger at us on TV and lied.

Condit lied to the police. That's obstructing justice. Period. No ifs, ands, ors, or buts.

How many people who defended Clinton before and after his impeachment are now calling for Condit's head on a platter? What hypocrisy!

This is the kind of twisted logic that brought us hate crime legislation.

what shite....

I don't think he should quit. I don't think he killed the intern. I don't think he is very smart. I don't think he is very interesting. I don't think Connie Chung is worth watching. I don't think the voters of his district are very smart. I think they will elect a very conservative Republican, who will lust, at least in his heart, for many interns. I think anyone who expects the disappearance ever to be solved will be disappointed.

Who's calling for his head on a platter? I just want him out because he was far too right-wing for my tastes, and his leaving opens the door for a more moderate congressperson.

As far as hypocrisy goes, why is it you never hear Republicans blather on about the liars & cheaters in their own party? Bob Barr? Newt Gingrich? Helen Chenoweth? Gary Condit was a hair away from jumping ship to the GOP. Had he jumped, would you be all over his case like you are now? I seriously doubt it.

Here's an older article on Republican morality from the Ayn Rand Institute. I'm not an Objectivist, but I found the article interesting:

Yep - it was all a right wing conspiracy ;-)

Personally, I didn't have as much problem with Clinton's sexual affairs as others did - he just got caught at it is all. I had a problem with his affairs with the Chinese - but then that is another issue altogether.

That would be a good reason in itself for a lot of congress to resign (on both sides of the aisle) - gridlock is good for liberty. For the most part we have plenty of laws and don't need a bunch more. Do you really want the legistature to make more laws regarding web sites such as this in the name of "decency"?

My answer to the question of whether Condit should resign is let his constituents decide at the polls.

I'm not as passionate about the situation as that but I would fall into that group. I am not a hypocrite.

Clinton absolutely broke the law but guess what? I don't care. I didn't care that he committed perjury in regards to something I felt was none of my business.

Condit didn't break any laws that I know of yet and guess what? I still don't care. He comes across as a slimy bastard and I think he should resign.

My reasons may seem insane to you but it all comes down to how I perceive them and what they did.

******getting a bag of popcorn and a beer out, propping feet up to watch this thread.........thinking to self "This is gonna be interesting!!!!"*****
