Should Doctors.and Nurses be able to quit enmass from Covid burnout?

Here is the original local news report on DeSantis not being aware of the magnitude of the covid crisis in his State.

It had me thinking....if ones elected officials throw an industry to the wolves by not helping(actually hurting it) via lack of appropriate Governmental policy can those folks just walk out? Quit?

Is there some reason they couldn't? The military is the only job I know of where you can't quit on a whim.

I think they can just claim that Jesus told them that they can only treat 100 patients, so they can still get paid but get religious exemption

They would risk losing their medical license, which is administered by the state.
