Have you ever stolen anything in stores?

I once stole a packet of coffee.

But it's not much a sin as the merchants are very rich and they threw every day food and drink into the bin. :cattail:

Sooooo if someone walked into your house and took something it'd be ok? I mean what if they only took something that you had more than 1 of? That square it with ya? You cannot seriously believe what you wrote. My ex is in retail mgmt and some of the store managers that work for him get fired every year because their inventories have too much shrink. They lose their jobs and maybe their way of life but hey, that's ok in your book because the merchants are making lots of money.

I have stolen two (2) items from stores. When I was a teenager, I stole the Bo Derek issue of Playboy from a little market at a ski resort. I planned it in advance and executed perfectly.

When I was a grad student, I shoplifted a pack of cigarettes from a liquor store. I did this twice: once by mistake, when I put the cigarettes in my coat pocket to grab a case of beer from the beer cooler, and a second time intentionally, after I'd gotten home and realized what an easy way that was to steal cigarettes.

-No, it's not ok.

-Home and trade are two different things.

-Yes I can.

-Stealing is wrong and I have the money to buy what I need, but sometimes is is good to break the rules.

Why? I always figure I can get by with a lot more if I play by the rules. I don't steal.

Now, that being said, while in college a clerk put a pair of shears in my bag after she cut the fabric I bought. I used them for about a year and then returned them I felt so bad.

All I have is my integrity and my relationships with people.

I worked at WALMART and mosta the assistant managers were worse thieves than customers.

a thief is a thief.... period

then you watch your employees, because they will steal anything that isn't bolted to the floor.

we have no respect for shoplifters ! we hold everyone and anyone for law enforcement and do go to court with every single one of their sorry asses.

we don't let anyone leave, no matter how many kids they have or how hard they cry and carry on. if we let them leave they would only go and steal something from someone else! we couldn't live with that. maybe someday they will learn a lesson.

I hope that you do not threat old people like that.

They might accidentally put goods in a bag and forget to pay.

I heard the other day that Wal Mart is phasing out the "greeters" at their stores. Will they offer you another position or are you just going to collect unemployment?

I've had a couple unintentional times but otherwise I've stayed honest. The times I didn't mean to do it I also didn't go back to pay so they count as stealing. One time it was a printer. It was in the cart and wasn't hidden or anything but both myself and the cashier missed it somehow. I walked out of the store, put my bags in the car, noticed the printer, said "huh" and carried on. I thought about returning to pay since it was a high dollar item but it was a high dollar item.

that is why we check all bags before people leave. if you are that troubled and forgetful you should probably not be out shopping.... you could forget were you live and not make it back home. I think for everyone's safety out on the road their families would not allow them to drive in the first place.

I mean really. if you are that forgetful to be in a store putting things into a bag or purse,( not to mention, what the hell are you putting stuff into a bag in a store in the first place. simply screams shoplifter!) you shouldn't be out with out assistance and in that case they would be held responsible.

we don't make the law or deal out justice. that is what court is for. caught with items from our store in your bag with out paying, there isn't any excuse.

On the shelf there were two rows of cooking oil - the expensive one and a cheaper own brand.

This guy walks in with an empty carrier bag and shoves two bottles of the CHEAP oil in his bag.

I laughed.

I've seen such things before. It's weird how even when people steal they're thrifty.

You are a brave man and good example for children. :cattail:

But do not go back again to steal, because you already got your part.

well that was the cashiers mistake. you didn't make a conscious to mislead or steal.

better training for the staff of that store is in order for sure.

Many years ago, when my wife and I had lots of babbies crawling around, I bought babby formula by the case lot.

Well, the case lot price on the shrink-wrapped case was exactly the same as a single can of formula. An alert clerk noticed this. "Oh I'm going to have to adjust the price, it scanned wrong". I pointed to a sign that said I got one item free if it scanned incorrectly, and asked for one free can of formula. Manager came over and said nope. I shrugged my shoulders....

....and came back for the next six weeks in a row, buying a case each time, and not saying a word when it rang up as a single can.... :D

I've had that happen with things before where the case rings up as a single. I never say anything because I've also had things ring up higher than they should so I figure me and the store are even.

When I was about 13, I got caught stealing something from a little convience store. They banned me from the store and put my name near the cash register as a shoplifter. A few years later the store shut down and the owners moved away. Years after that the abandoned building burned down. Now the site is an overgrown lot on the outskirts of my home town.

And I'm still here. Take that bitches!

I stole a few times when I was a kid. This employee caught a friend and I stuffing our pockets with candy at a kroger grocery store. He told us to take everything out of our pockets and if he ever seen us back in the store he was gonna call the police. It scared the shit out of me and I havent stolen since.

So you can justify taking of something from a store (trade) because it's different from your stuff. ummm where did YOUR stuff come from goofy? From a store. Not like you made it with your own hands. It belongs to someone else and you justified stealing it. As for breaking the rules, we all do it every day but I like to think we are more moral and character filled than to justify stealing something especially when we have the money to pay for it. The poster that mentioned about employees- asst mgrs- being the worst, that's what the hubs said too. He said mgr's have their jobs on the line with shrinkage but asst mgr's don't. Wonder how many items are on ebay right this very moment that are the result of employee theft?

The home is a private place, the trade is a puplic place.

They have a big difference.

I am not saying that the theft woul be right, but I was trying to to say that the rules and regulations should not blindy follow.

Ebay is a marketplace for stolen goods.
