Unless addressed by the federal government, in the not-too-distant future US cities will no longer have strip malls. All shopping will be done at malls with a heavy police presence. Laws need to be passed with heavy penalties for being in possession of earth magnets and cutting tools in retail stores.

Retail theft is destroying the economy. Every time someone steals from a store, it costs you more to buy from that store. In order to make any profit stores have cut way back on employees which means cutting back on service and minimum wage jobs.

I'm working a part-time gig consulting a corporation, so I know what I'm talking about. I'm sure that the term shoplifting conjures up images of young black men wearing hoodies. Every gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual identity, and age steals.

As someone who actually knows, I can assure him and anyone else who equates shoplifting with black people, that shoplifting is committed by both genders, those who are gender fluid, every ethnicity, religion, and age. However, my point in initiating this thread was not to argue stereotypes but to raise awareness of a problem affecting the economy which is not being addressed.
