Have any of you seen this movie? it's a miniseries and also a book (james clavell)

It's on right now on the hallmark channel.

I marval at the dom/sub relationships in this book and movie. It is really amazing how submissive women had to be and how they delt with it and used it.

If you have never seen it I suggest you check it out. Still about an hour or two left.

Shogun is a wonderful book, and of course, was a groundbreaking mini-series (it was the first ever). I don't know if I'd go so far as to call japanese women submissive though, in the BDSM sense of the word. At that time in Japanese history, women held an incredible amount of power. For instance, women managed all the money. Managing money was beneath even the lowest samurai. Just one example.

Thanks for the good memories...I'll have to read it again.

I watched part of it. I saw it when it first came out. I had also read the book many years ago.

The first Dom I met was trained in one of the houses in Japan when his family was stationed there. he was 16 when he started. They required him to start as a submissive first.

The book, the book by far is superior! I've read the book numerous times and its about my all time favorite. You think you can almost speak Japanese by the time you finish the book. How Toranaga used all his vassals was masterful. The full 13 hour miniseries was okay, but you still lost half the intrigue of the book, The movie is minimum story.
