More bombs in London. Nail bombs this time, on a bus. Three tube lines shut down.

This is fucking shit, because I waved my husband off from the station two hours ago. He's gone on a train to London to his work's head office. :(

He did tell me that once he gets into London, he's walking it to Westminster.

I'm waiting for him to call me and tell me he got there ok.

*HUGS*

sending prayers Lou.

:rose:

I didn't want him to go, but he had to and life must go on. I just want him to come home now. :(

I am probably over-reacting, and I so hope I am, but I don't like this.

The news has just said that the police aren't treating this as a major incident, yet. It could be just detonators, set off to cause panic.

:( :rose: All will be well with hubby.

Thanks, everyone.

Things seem a little more clear now. Despite initial reports, it was NOT nail bombs. It does all sound very much like minor explosions, using detonators alone, with the probable intention of causing panic and disruption.

Still haven't heard from Adam, and I tried to phone him, but his phone is off (which doesn't surprise me, because it didn't have much juice in it when he left this morning). He'll be in touch at some point, I'm sure.

Ah, police have just said they were "Dummy nail bombs". I.e. they were made to look like bombs, but actually had no explosives in them; merely detonators. Wankers, whoever did this.

Armed police have entered University Collge Hospital, which is close to Warren Street (one of the tube stations affected). The hospital has been cordoned off. The speculation is that the person who detonated whatever it was on the Warren Street tube was injured, and went to the hospital. Wanker.

if that's accurate, would it be uncharitable to hope that the person comes out slightly more 'injured' than when they ran in?

Taken a time to filter through over here, knew something was up once I couldn't get back onto the cricket broadcast. Everyone at home accounted for, hope you hear from Adam soon love, he probably doesn't even know he needs to call you.

On the terrorism score - this simply proves we can take nothing for granted. Wankers or not, this is terrorism in execution, who want's to ride a bus or take the tube tomorrow? I know we will, phlegmatic British spirit and all that, but how long before tourism suffers, would you book a hoilday to London? We forget how much of the London economy is underpinned by leisure and entertainment, if the London economy falters, the rest of the UK will feel the pinch. It is the aim of the terrorist to strike this degree of fear, in the end it hurts in the pocket, then there are two ways forward, strike back hard or knuckle under to terrorism. We will never do the latter so expect the former - and I'm afraid it frightens me.

I do sincerely hope they are caught, tried as terrorists, and given the maxium sentence the law allows. For the pain, anguish and panic they probably caused people all over the UK, they defintely fit the definition of terrorists. And wankers is right.

Commiseration from another who lives at ground zero (more appropriately one of many ground zeroes [grounds zero?]). Best wishes.

Thanks. Not that I live at any "ground zero" though, but your sentiments are appreciated.

The Met police chief, Sir Ian Blair has now said this is a "serious incident" and has told everyone in London to stay where they are.

Whitehall - where Downing Street is - has now been sealed off, probably precautionary (that's where Adam was going - he works for a Government Agency). Dunno where the hell he is, but I know he'll be fine, whatever he's doing.

Just heard from hubby. :)

He's at the head office, and called me from one of their phones (he couldn't get through on the mobile - networks jammed). They gave an announcement on the train as it pulled into Waterloo Station, informing the passengers of "incidents in London" and told them that once the train had arrived at the station they were to leave Waterloo as quickly and calmly as possible.

Good news, Lou! I was worried when I read your posts, so it's nice to know that hubby is okay. :rose:

Great news!

Let's hope he's not delayed in getting home. Bet you can't wait to hug him.

Exactly so! That's what he said: "I've just gotta get home now." Love him. Too right! I gave him a massive hug and kiss as he got on the train, and will give him even bigger ones when I pick him up later - whatever time that will be.

Thanks, and to Cloudy, too.

:rose:
Glad to hear he's safe, Lou.
I hope as much can be said for everyone else in that tube today.

Thanks for all of the updates.

Hope all our other Litizens ... and, indeed, all those in the area (excepting the wankers who did this) are well and safe.

I am glad to hear that your husband is OK. I hope that all the other passengers are also OK.

As for the ass holes who caused the explosions, I hope that they linger through several incredibly painful days befroe they die!
