SHIT- It's summer - is it ok to be over 40?

Maybe not where you are, but where I am it is 24c. I had hoped to get into shape, but damn ... after hitting 40 it's become a lot harder to look under 40 unless I don't eat, and well, I enjoy good food. Is it so terrible to see an over 40 man or woman on a beach half naked?

It would have been hard to imagine when I was twenty, but I am at the point now where I enjoy seeing a 40+ woman on a beach more than I do the 20 year-olds. My Dirty Old Alien card is somewhere in my wallet...

I think a lot of people have the idea that they must look absolutely perfect in a bikini or naked to be on the beach. On vacation, I always figure I'm never going to see those people again anyway, so why not let it all hang out?

I try not to be hard on myself about my body and the way it's... softer... now than ever before.
One of the things I do that helps me is to honestly pick out women (at the beach, the pool, the dreaded indoor water park) who I find attractive. Then I evaluate. Is she really thinner, more fit, less saggy than me?
Sometimes, the answer is yes. She is in "better shape." Often, however, the answer is, "We're about the same," or "She's a little heavier than I am."
And still, I find her very attractive.
That must mean - I am still attractive as well.
