I can tell who has had it and who has not had it...

I can tell who has had it and who has not had it by the posts. People that have never had it, or those who have mild cases, have no idea how insane the pain level can become. Especial with facial shingles. Anyone that has had a bad case of shingles will never joke about it unless they also joke about things like children that burn to death in house fires.

I'll be ok. I don't mind the jokes, really.

My dad got them right after he had open heart surgery. My daughter had the chicken pox and she gave him shingles.

My dad went through a lot in his life. Several boughts of cancer, leukemia, cancer in his ear canal. Of everything he went through, the only thing he ever complained about was shingles.

Thanks for reminding me, I've got to go for my series of shots. Get well, I'm sure its not a pleasant experience.

I'm getting one asap. I planned on getting one my next appt but then covid happened. Leave it to me to get it. I saw what shingles did to my dad.

cannot begin to imagine how that feels.

had it twice, both times on my upper left arm on the outside. only a few spots, less than twelve, i'd say, but the pain! my whole arm hurt and felt like it weighed a ton

You've had it twice? Oh you poor thing.

I had shingles back n '92. I thought something was biting my back. The doctor took one look and then told me I had shingles. I was suppose to have surgery the next week but it had to be rescheduled for 30 days later.

The only really bad case I saw was, fortunately, on someone paralysed by polio. It looked like it should have been agonising, but they barely noticed.
