Yes, that's one thing that is chilling about this digital areana of connections. There is no human toug´ch to the system except what peers provide. And often, that's email adress the only means of contact you have. And when it's cut...there is no way left of finding out exactly what is going on. Lost a good friend a few years ago in a similar way...mails started to bounce, and all I had to go on was a very common name, and assorted references to his life. It took me two weeks of detective work to find out that he had been killed in a car accident. It's a shitty way to find out.
