She will be tamed.

Max was busy and never turned around when he heard her crawling behind him, then she was next to him. He noticed she was also looking at the house with a binoculars. He was not about to talk to her now. He felt a tap on his leg and barely turn his head, and she pointed “Maybe” she whispered. He just lifted one shoulder without replying.

Max as thinking of a possible surprise attack, and he had to time the guards when the made the corner of the house, as it was the time they couldn’t see each other. They needed to take the two guards and the boss man at the same time or within two three seconds, or the girl would be dead before they got to her.

She considered the house. They could split up and try to draw attention away from the other. She could go around and come at the house from the far side, possibly luring a few of the guards towards her, allowing him to take out the others.

"Max," she said softly, explaining her plan. She bit her lip and paused before adding, "But you are in charge, we do it however you say, sir."

It felt awkward in her mouth, those words, but they were true. He had definitely asserted his dominance and he clearly knew the job. As her superior he deserved the respect. So while she hated it, she begrudgingly gave it to him. For now.

“I don’t want to risk the girl’s life by making a mistake. I think we should time the guards how long it will take them from one corner to the next. So that we know exactly how many seconds we have before they’ll see us coming.”

"Max," she said softly, "But you are in charge, we do it however you say, sir."

Her comment about him being in charge sort of surprised him considering after what happen. He just choose not to answer her one way or the other.

‘There are four men including the Boss, I think that once we know the exact thy take. I’ll be at the window and in time to shoot him before me moves, and mean you’ll take out the guard behind the house than come around behind the other guard to make sure dead than that would give me enough time the get the boss man.”

"I've got it. When do we move?" She had to admit it was a good plan.

The sex and fight were pushed to the back of her mind. Killing was all she thought of now. She licked her lips in anticipation. Saving the girl was really the goal and she hoped, if only for the sake of paperwork they did.

She was impatient to start. "Tonight?"

"I've got it. When do we move?" She asked.
Max was not ready to just barge down the hill just yet, he had just figured how this could be done.

“Tonight?” she asked.

He could tell she was itching to get started, but she was a little inpatient at the moment. Maybe she was trying to show him she could do this, or to prove herself after what happen earlier. He knew she would do all it was needed to rescue the girl, and the problem she was having was something personal, even if she couldn’t see it when he tried to show her.

“No not tonight. I want to time them again and again to make sure it’s the same routine every day.

Darla sighed, letting the tension and anticipation out of her body. She hated the wait.

It left her with little to do other than think. She really shouldn't have slapped Max. He was actually being nice before she did. She just didn't know how to deal with men. She wanted... something. She didn't know what. She felt like it was close when she was with him.

"Listen, Max. I shouldn't have hit you. I... I don't deal well with people." She said it then immediately got up and moved back to the sleeping bags, turning away from him, not wanting to face his reaction. It was the closest to honest she had been in forever and it made her very uncomfortable.

He heard her sighed and wondered if she was trying to hold on to her temper, but he made no comment. He concentrated on his work which was more important. Max never intended to be that abrupt with her, but at that moment he was busy with something more important than her feeling.

He started to time the guards from the front door, one going left the other going right. The one in the back he couldn’t see, but didn’t thing it matter at this time. He figured it would the be same amount of time it would take the two guard to get the corner time two.

"Listen, Max. I shouldn't have hit you. I... I don't deal well with people." She said and was about to tell her he was not interested in what she had to say, but there was something in her voice that made him stop and listen. Unfortunate she didn’t say anything else, but got up and went back to her sleeping bag, and it made him wonder if maybe he should give it another try.

He walks over to her and sits right next to her. “Look Mara, I know I teased you more than I should have, I was trying to dray you out, and maybe you would talk to me about what’s bothering you about men.” For someone that does so well in this business, you are the worst female partner a male agent had to work with. I know there has to be a reason you don't like men.”

He told her then stops to give her a chance to think about what he just said to her.

She listened to him. He sounded like he was actually concerned. Of course it was because of the job, but still. It was real concern. Could she trust him? How could she? Was this a new tactic to bring her down?

"I appreciate that. I know I am a hard partner. I don't respect men." She couldn't open up to him more than that, "I respect you. Isn't that enough?"

Even though she was listening to him, he wasn’t sure she heard every word he said, he could see her mind wasn’t on what he was tell her.

"I appreciate that. I know I am a hard partner. I don't respect men." He looked at her with no expression on his face at all.

"I respect you. Isn't that enough?" She added.

I know you don’t respect men, you’ve proving that with every partner you’ve had, but just because you respect me as you just said, doesn’t change anything.” He thought for minute before he spoke again.

“Darla if you want to remain with the agency you’ll have to work with man partners. I won’t be your partner for long if there is no change in you, I’ll be back to my old position as an instructor, and for me to work with you much longer, you’ll have to open up to me so we can fix this problem you have with men.” He told her.

Darla panicked. She didn't know she was so close to loosing her place in the agency, "NO, please. This job is all I have. It is all I am." She knew he wanted her to open up but it was hard. Her past and pain were buried so deep.

"I can try harder, Max. Please." She was shaking, little scared her but loosing this job, it was to much. "I don't know how to talk about it. I don't know how to be open." She felt like he was asking her to something impossible. Surely she would fall apart if she opened up even just a little.

Max notice her reaction at the mention of her losing her job, but those were facts and they would dismiss her.

"NO, please. This job is all I have. It is all I am." She told him and could hear her voice shake.

“I am really sorry Darla, I couldn’t withhold what they already know, not when you won’t even take the first stet to help yourself.”

"I can try harder, Max. Please." She was shaking even more now.
Darla the first step for you to start with, is to admit you have a problem and that you want to solve it. I am here to help you solve it.”

"I don't know how to talk about it. I don't know how to be open." She said looking even scare now.

Darla I promise to be here for you every step of the way if you are willing to just talk to me about it, there is something in your subconscious mind that makes you react to men like you do. You slapped me when I said make love to me, not just fuck me. You want to try that again to see if it all comes back to you?”

She froze. "No. I can't make love to you." She shook her head. "I can't do that. Ever"

She sighed it was clear that she talk to Max or loose the job.

"I have a problem with men. I don't respect them. I don't trust my partners. I assume they all want to fuck. Even you wanted to fuck, Max. It's all men seem to want."

Max saw here expression change when he said the words make love to me. He knew something related to those words set her off.

"No. I can't make love to you." She shook her head. "I can't do that. Ever." She told him, and he had to get to the bottom of that problem.

"I have a problem with men. I don't respect them. I don't trust my partners. I assume they all want to fuck. Even you wanted to fuck, Max. It's all men seem to want."

OK Darla you don’t have to make love to me, and that was not what I was asking of you. I like you to tell me something Darla. “You did fuck me willingly you can't deny that, but you got upset when I said (make love to me.) Why did those words upset you that much, and when was the first time you heard them, and from whom.

Darla wrapped her arms around her legs and put her head on her knees, facing away from Max. "My uncle Mark." she whispered. She thought of the first time, she was so young. He had been her favorite uncle.

She turned to Max, expecting to see disbelief or judgement on his face. She had only tried to talk about this three other times and all three had resulted in one of those two reactions.

Max was quiet and waiting for her to answer when she put her arms around her leg and her head on her knees. He was sure that time she would say something about what happen.

"My uncle Mark." Max didn’t say anything for a long time. He had already guessed to be something like rape, but he never thought it was by a family member. He gently wrapped his arms around her and held her like that for a while.

“I’m Sorry Darla.” He said softly. Now he knew why she hated those words, the man she loved betray and rape her. He really didn't need to know more, now he could work with her to get better.

Max's arms around her made her stiffen at first. His words were spoken with complete gentleness though. She felt it was a risk, but allowed herself to relax in his arms. As soon as she did her body betrayed her and began sobbing.

She gripped her legs tighter as huge shaking sobs wracked her body. She waited for him to scoff at her. The strong bitch of an agent crying like a baby in the woods because her uncle hurt her. It was shameful but she couldn't seem to stop.

The worst part was that she had ruined the job anyhow. There was no way she could walk into the office again after this. He owed her nothing, he would tell everyone about this. Bitch Darla broke down for him and cried.

Still, the need for human contact was strong. She didn't want him to let go of her. "Max, please" she sobbed, not knowing what she was asking for.

Max felt her body stiffen lightly when he put his arm around her, but then she relaxed into his arm before she started sobbing. There was not much to say in that moment, but to let her get it out of her system and perhaps she would feel better afterwards. She cried and sobbed while gripping her legs tightly as her body rocked from her sobs.

“It’s OK to cry Darla.” He told her,” sometime it help getting it out of your system once and for all. You’ll get through this and I will help you if you let me.” He told her trying to comfort her all he could. What she went through must’ve been a horror for such a young girl.

"Max, please" she said between sobs, but she stops there not saying anything else. “What Darla, what were you going to say, just tell me. I promise to be there for you through this for whatever long it will take.”

Darla's crying was slowing down some but she still felt raw and helpless in his arms. "Don't tell anyone about this Max?" She knew it was probably too much to ask. At the very least he had to report to their supervisor. But she really didn't think she could go to the office after this. To stand in front of people with them knowing she was this weak inside.

Max still held her in his arms even after sobs stopped and she was crying softly. "Don't tell anyone about this Max?" She asked him. Max had no intention to tell anyone about this, she was too good to throw her to the wolves.

“This is between you and I Darla, you must trust me in this till we can get you back to your old self. Like I told you. We’ll work together and no one needs to know anything. You’ll be my partner till you’re ready to try another partner.”
