"I'm going to have a family!!!!"
I had an interesting revelation tonight. A cousin of mine got married this evening. Her brother will be marrying in September. Tonight was the first time I'd met his fiance`. They live out of state, so I'd heard about her but never met her.
She's a very pretty, bubbly outgoing type. She was so excited to meet everyone. When we were introduced she hugged me and squealed "I'm going to have a family!!!"
I don't know the whole story, but she's the only child in a pretty dysfunctional family that's not close, and never sees each other for anything. Something that a whole lot of us take for granted is her most cherished dream in life. To simply have family that loves each other and stays in touch.
It was a very eye opening moment for me. I'm guilty of taking things like that for granted. Family has always been there, and always will be until they die. It's just how things are when you're used to it. For someone like her, it's a dream that's about to come true.
Even though I just met her tonight, I wanted to publicly say "Thank you Leah, you taught me something today".
