Hey... This may be a really stupid question, but I was wondering the best way to shave your balls? I've trimmed my pubes before and straight razored the shaft, but I guess you could say I've never had the BALLS to try my balls. Is it better to shave when hard since everything firm and tight, or when flacid? Any comments would be appreciated.

Shave when hard if you can. I usually shave with a friend;) , so hard is easy to achieve.
Use a good gel shaving cream, i like Edge the best. And I like the Gillette Mach 3 razor. For some reason, the 3 blades give a close shave with minimal chance of nicks.

I prefer the Mach 3 as well though I don't like Gel shaving cream.

There are some good posts about this in the archive.

I tried the new 4 blade razor but it isn't open on the back and gets jamned up much easier than the Mach 3.

If it's your first time, trim the hair as close as possible. First time, you'll want to go with the grain and just get as much as possible off, then go once (lightly) against the grain. Do not expect to get all of the hairs your first time. In fact, expect to miss a few. Don't worry about it. You'll get those stray hairs the second time (as in, the next shower).

The scrotum, I've learned to shave in all directions, if that makes any sense. I mean, the hairs themselves are kind of erratic in the direction they grow. Remember to pull the skin taut when you go over the scrotum. Don't worry about cutting yourself, that's just a myth that you'll cut your balls off. You'll find MANY more ingrown hairs and irritation on your pubis than your scrotum.

If you're morbidly curious, I've written on the topic in detail: http://www.opendiary.com/entryview.asp?authorcode=C104458&entry=11481

Tried it all of *once* and didn't find it worth the effort to continue. Lil itchy the first time (at least for me). Anyhoo.

I trimmed it down as far as possible first then shaved it, as you say, 'taught' w a gillete mach 3. I wasn't real comfortable doing that, so I'll likely never do it again, but there you go.

On the plus side, 'it' looks bigger afterwards :D

Useful

Well thanks for the info. its pretty useful... more would be even better. Still pretty nervous about it.. lol... will probably take some courage to do it... so paranoid about cutting.. ouch!!

i've tried trimming a couple of times...
if you don't keep it trimed, it'll itch when it starts coming back. so i stoped for that and to save $ on blades

Do you need to use a fresh blade every time.. even if you had a seperate razor?

i don't know how long it takes for the blades to go dull. i guess it will depend. i just know that shaving in certain areas wears down the blade faster.

Many have covered it good here.

In my experience this is what is important:

Shave as the last thing you do in the shower or bath. That way your skin is softer and more prepared. Just like when you shave your face you need the same precautions here.

Remember to stretch the skin of your balls properly when you shave, to avoid cutting yourself.

As several said - Gillette is the right tool for the job. I have always used that one, and have never cut myself.

When you are done shaving, and it is all smooth, rub some babyoil on the freshly shaved area, to avoid irritation and itching.

If you are a masochist - use after shave with alcohol ;)

itching

Be prepared to stay shaved and daily attention or you will itch like you can't believe for about a week or so.
Good luck, shaved balls look great!

I have shaved for years.. I too am a Mach 3 kind of guy. I use the same blade as I do on my face and get about a month maybe 3 weeks out of a blade shave both areas. Never had a problem.

Mach 3... but don't fall for the fancy "turbo" version - costs more and doesn't work any better... guess the mach 3 is about as good as they get ;)

Shaved my whole chest about a week ago, but probably won't do it again - gets itchy and bumpy... I suppose you need sime time to get used to it. When I shave my scrotum (hehe... fancy words ;) ) I don't get any itching - thick skin I suppose :p
