first off i am a male and it seems whenever i give myself a trim down south i get the nastiest case of razor burn.. i have even tried using an electric razor to trim it down to barely nothing before using a real razor. afterwards i use lotion pretty regularly to keep the skin moisturized but it always seems two days after i do it i get the worst case of razor burn to where it hurts to walk and it hurts to have sex with my girlfriend.. any help with this would be greatly appreciated! thanks

Hi tugga06

Why as a man do you want to shave? Does your lady want you looking like a pre pubescent boy?

The roughness of a man's hair feels so good rubbing against the clitoris , it is very stimulating and attractive. Lovely to stroke. Male genitalia is so beautiful with its crowning glory of masculine hair.

The delayed effect tells me it's likely not razor burn, but rather irritation from the hair growing back in. The solution to that is to keep shaving as often as your skin will allow it (daily, if possible, for a month or so) until your skin gets used to it, and it should cease to get itchy/irritated. Cortisone cream should help with any irritation you do get, or you can buy a product called Bikini Zone (but it's expensive). Also, keeping the area dry with an unscented solid deoderant like Sure Unscented, baby powder or cornstarch, is also helpful for many.

My guy likes shaving because it increases sensitivity and it's more enjoyable to lick those areas and give oral overall. I shave my labia for the same reason.

I assure you that adults do NOT look like children when shaved - that's just ridiculous. I'm not totally wild about the visual aspect of completely bare, but it's not the look, it's the FEEL.

me again tugga06

Please forgive if i offended, i know how hard it is to say things the right way and they may be misunderstood as SweetErika has so forcefully pointed out to me. i most humbly apologize to have caused such obvious offense to you SweetErika, it is always so hard to get it quite right and to the full satisfaction of the experienced, important people on a forum particularly when one is a newbie and making their first post.

oh i understand you saying something like that.. my girlfriend likes the skin on skin feeling when we are both smooth..

ill try that daily thing you told me about erika thanks a million. :)

My wife uses the bikini zone product that Erika mentioned and it works really well.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Because it couldn't possibly have anything to do with you questioning someone's practice in a rude, judgmental tone instead of asking out of genuine curiosity or contributing to the thread topic or the passive-aggressive, drama-stirring nature of your two posts!

No, instead it's all about the poor, poor, pitiful n00b not getting it right and grievously offending veteran members like me, right?

Take it to the GB.

I shave as well... Just started within the last year actually. It was more of a "surprise" for the wife to see what she would say. (Then after she so eagerly showed her approval I decided to keep it that way.) I agree that it is probably the hair growing back in, mine does it a little if I don't shave regularly (which is daily or every other day at the most).

As for why a guy would want it that way?
1) Some women find it attractive.
2) Many women enjoy not picking hair out of their mouth.
3) Some women enjoy the soft feel of the skin against them and isn't pleasure what you get together for? :p
4) And for me... Wow! So much more feeling there now both with oral and during sex when I can feel them rubbing against her. ( #4 is the clincher for me. hehe )
5) And honestly, it seems much cooler down there when I am working out, running, or just working.

And before I get blasted for snarking the "newb". I am new here too and I mean no offense... just trying to give positive responses as to why one guy (me) enjoys being shaven.

Respectfully,

If you have the balls you might try getting waxed.
It was one of the most intense, unpleasantly enjoyable experiences of my life.
I don't think I have what it takes to do it regularly though.
I can't shave down there.
I get bad razor burn which takes a few days to clear up. By that time I am already midway into the itchy painful can't even walk and don't want to get out of bed stage.
My theory on shaving is that when it cuts the hair it shears the end of the hair to a sharp little point. When it starts to grow back each little hairy needle starts poking into your skin. Nair Seems to do the same thing or at least gave me the same irritation plus it's creepy stuff. :D
When I waxed on the other hand the hairs seemed to grow in fine at first and caused no irritation as long as you do what's necessary to prevent ingrown hairs.
Plus it lasts a while.
I don't even have the patients or desire to shave my face every day.

Something we've done is put some sort of astringent like Sea Breeze over freshly shaved skin (and recently shaved skin) and that seems to help. It's cheaper than the specialty products too.

However, be forewarned as it hurts like Billy Oh.

(And as mentioned above, the regular shaving thing helps a lot too.)

I use a product called Magic Shave. No problems with bumps or irritation at all.

My husband used this when he had to shave for his vasectomy. We used the type with Aloe and he had very little irritation and very very smooth skin for a long time. He is considering keeping it that way once he returns from his remote as he likes the added sensitivity.

(edited to add) I also use this to keep myself nice and smooth. As long as I'm not a dumbass and grab the "extra strength" powder, I have no trouble with it

I have thouight about getting it waxed but im curious about the pain.. i mean is it like it hurts like a sonofabitch for a few seconds or is it a 'oh jesus my balls hurt' type thing all day? i can take a quick sharp hurts-only-for-a-little-bit kind of pain but the all day feels-like-someone-went-to-town-on-by-balls-with-a-hammer pain i am afraid of..

I use the Nair for men. It costs about $5 US. Get the one with the roller because it doesn't get on your hands. Basically I roll it on and leave it on for about 4 to 5 min and then use a damp rag to wipe off the majority of the hair. Next just jump into the shower and get the rest of the cream off you. The odor is minimal and easier than a blade.

I am sure it depends on your pain threashold skin type and other things. For me it was incredibly painful (I dont know maybe an 8 out of 10) when it was pulled off and for maybe 20 sec after. After that it gets better pretty quick but stays pretty sensitive for a good part of a day. I would do it at night or at some point where you don't need to be dressed or moving a lot for a while. Clothing and chafing can make it a lot more unpleasant.
Of course that pain was from taking all hair from the belly button to the ballsack which is quite a bit thicker and more deeply rooted than the sack.

Nair for me is at least as bad as shaving. I am itchey and miserable for a week after using it.
