Shaving down there

I've tried shaving down there but it's never worked very well. I can never get all of it shaved off and where I do it leaves red spots.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

This is a FAQ, so a search will turn up detailed answers. Some people use Magic cream.

I use the dedicated Seiko S-Yard electric shaver. Works a treat for me and no bumps/spots/etc. Easy to find on Ebay.

Her 'area'.
Do it in the bath/shower...preferably at the end so you are softer. Use a very good sharp razor...preferably two or three blades (Venus has some nifty razors).
Soapy lather or shaving cream, both work. You could also use Nair and then shave (some women I know swear by that, but don't take my word for it).
Shave downward i.e. not against the natural growth direction.

That's about all I know on a nice clean shave. I wax, so shaving's not a real concern. When I do shave though, this is how I do it. Hope it helps!

Tell me more. I just redid my cock and balls (Seiko electric shaver) today, and it's surprising how many really fine hairs play hard to get. Grrr...That cream might be quicker to use and better at getting all of it?

How long do you leave it on for? What's it cost 'per use'? Do you trim first to make it go further?

I find the cream excellent to use.You put it on(only a light application) leave it between 5 and 10 minutes, then scrape it off with a plastic gizmo(provided)then shower.DON'T get it on the end of your cock( REALLY sore!!! trust me!)
First time i used it,i hadn't trimmed and it did an excellent job.Don't know how much it is per use but a bottle lasts me for ages. It does tingle a bit when it's been on for a couple of minutes, but i consider this to be an added bonus!

I agree with all of this advice, and would add that I find it is important to do it every day. If I let it go for day or two, I am more likely to get razor burn.

Thanks for that - I'll buy some next shopping trip. I think it's supposed to get an extra bit of hair out of the follicle (compared to shaving) so it may last a couple of days extra, too.

If anyone wants to see the results of my shaving session (I'm only trying to be helpful, honest!), there's a shot straight after I did it for the GB's Soft Cocks thread - http://forum.literotica.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=858235&d=1215893466 (Don't click it if you don't want to see a picture of a cock!)

try using conditioner instead of shaving cream or soap... it makes for a smoother shave.

I use a Schick Quattro razor w/ either King of Shaves gel or ShaveSecret oil. They both contain tea tree oil and other stuff that greatly reduces the risk of irritation and ingrown hairs (I've never had one yet). Also, neither one of them gives me vaginal infections, like scented and harsh products like conditioner and soap are prone to do. The Quattro blades are expensive, but I just stock up when they're on sale, rebate (drug stores have rebates on them many times a year) and I have coupons. They seem to last much longer and do a better job than other razors, so the cost probably comes out the same as, or less than, the less expensive ones in the end.

Trim the hair close before shaving. Clippers work best for this.

Exfoliating is an important step that many overlook. Do it at the end of your bath/shower, before you shave. I use one of those net bath pouf thingies, but you can use anything from a washcloth to baking soda.

Let your shaving product sit on your skin for a minute prior to shaving. Pull the skin taut (squatting or putting one leg up helps) and shave in as few strokes as possible, rinsing your razor frequently. Once your skin gets used to shaving (it might take weeks of regular shaving), you can likely shave against the grain, but going sideways to the grain is also effective w/o being irritating. I've found I can go in any direction with a good razor, shave product and routine.

When you're done, pat the skin dry and, until your skin is used to shaving, you can apply either some hydrocortisone cream or some lidocaine cream (lidocaine is the active ingredient in Bikini Zone, which helps some with razor burn; it's also a numbing agent, so don't put it on before sex!). Shave as often as your skin allows, like daily or every day or two, for a few months, and you'll likely find irritation will be a thing of the past, even when you don't shave for a month or more.

Like some of us, you might find you have a small area that gets irritated no matter what you do or how long you shave; I just keep that area neatly trimmed, and think a little hair looks far better than bare anyway.

I've tried depilatories, like Nair and Veet, but they're far more time consuming and irritating than shaving, and they can leave an awful residual smell for many hours. I found Nair to be better than Veet, but it still wasn't worth it in the end. If you do try depilatories, make sure you do the patch test, exactly like the instructions say, because neither chemical burns nor allergic reactions in that area are fun!
